I think Hope is a gorgeous under appreciated gem!

Congratulations! We’re adopting as well and considering Hope as a middle name. I had the same concern, but there’s so much weight to the name in the realm of adoption... I think it’s gorgeous! We’re considering Aria Hope (song of hope) or Aria Cosette (song of victory).

Yes it’s very cheesy!

I think hope as a first name can be a bit common now but names such as hope and faith are good as middle names in my opinion.

Estella Hope (Ella)
Evelyn Hope
Gracie Hope
Avia Hope
Molly Hope
Jessica Hope

I don’t know about it being cheesy or not, but I think just based on the SOUND of the word/name, it’s unattractive. It just doesn’t sound nice to me. It’s very...abrupt when you say it aloud.

It’s not at all cheesy. It’s a virtue name like any other. It’s no more cheesy than Grace or Faith.

How can it be cheesey? It’s just a name.

If you are a same-sex couple, Jon and John, you can’t adopt from China. Most countries, unfortunately, don’t allow same-sex couples to adopt. If I assumed your gender wrong, sorry. I would use Hope or something that means Hope or joy in the middle spot.

I just want to point out that there are ways for only 1 person, male or female, to adopt from any country, so if this is a same-sex couple they could be going through and having only 1 of them adopting the child since it is true that most countries don’t allow same-sex couples to adopt, aside from South Africa and Brazil which do allow same sex couples to adopt. Although I don’t know what details go with 1 person adopting.

As for the name, if you love Hope then use it. It’s not any more "cheesy" than Grace which is extremely common and no one seems to think it’s cheesy. I think Hope is gorgeous and it’s so uncommon! I’ve never met anyone with the first name Hope and I only know 1 girl, who is now 18 with the middle name Hope.

No we aren’t a same sex couple we don’t have anything against it though. Jon is short for Joni but I just don’t like my name so I go by Jon. I think it’s a little cute us being John and Jon qorky lol. I’m not sure about China’s same sex adoption laws because we have friends who adopted a few years ago from china I think only one was their daughters legal mother and then later they had to do a step parent adoption so they both could be her legal guardian. I don’t think we will be using Hope as a first name though maybe a middle thanks for all the help
