Do Sibling vs. Names Have vs. To Match?
We were wondering if sibling names have to match. We love every genre of name. Would it be weird to name one child a very old fashioned name, and one modern new style name? Is it really important that they all match/go together? Thanks for you opinions!

Entirely up to you. I think the more important factor is that you use names you love and that have meaning to you.
I think it`s important that the names are the same style.

I’m really picky about names so I do think that stylistically the names should go. For example I think it would be completely weird to name a son Zayden and then a daughter Catherine

^^both Elowen and Ginvera are classics, one a bit more unheard of than the other but both are technically classic.

Just choose names you love, that’s all that matters.

To comment on poster 4’s post, I actually think Zayden and Catherine have a brilliant flow! I love the balance between them. I actually prefer different styles together and find them more harmonious and natural. I think it can seem really hokey when parents are too keen on matching styles. Like say... George and Lucy or something.. hokey.

Choosing a name you love is so much more natural than trying to patent a style for your children. I think when you go with what you love, the flow will come automatically and in a more attractive way than over trying.

Think about it, would you want to be all matchy with your siblings? Different styles sound best imo and balance each other out. I personally just go with names I love and say them with sibling names and see if I like them in sound, not based on style.

I see where poster 4 is coming from. Like if a parent has a daughter named Grayson and then have another daughter named Liliana, I would think it was a bit strange. Or parents naming a child Mykynnzeigh and then another Adam, it would be off to me

Any sibset "matches" because it’s your tastes that are uniquely attuned. Whether they are the same style is irrelevant IMO. I think alternating themes and genres are great because sibset themes can quickly go from cute to corny...
My brother and I are named Jeremy and Carina. Different but we go together.
I know other sibets Maylene and Sebastian, Jonnah and Araleah, and Xander, Jace, and Clarissa. Different but somehow they go.
Themes like Jameson and Madison, or Blue, Lavender, and Crimson, or the ever popular Lily, Rose, Violet, and River is way too much in the "match dept" IMO.

I know siblings named William and Paisley. Inalso know a set of sisters named Alice, Clementine, and Brynlee. As long as you actually love the names it doesn’t matter whether siblings names match, are of the same style, or "fit" together perfectly. Use what you love.
