Sibling for vs. Shiloh and Arwen vs. Untraditional girls names

Another little girl will be joining our family of four very shortly. She joins sister’s Shiloh (7) and Arwen (4). We have been on the hunt for another name that we love, but we’re stumped. I personally love untraditional girl names (kind of tomyboyish but not too boyish), but my husband loves boy names on girls, particularly Sterling. I already got him to compromise on our older two girls, but I would feel bad if I made him go with another name that isn’t his favorite. He said Sterling could be her middle name if I don’t want them as first names. What should we do? I’d prefer to stay clear of S and A names if possible and I’m okay using Sterling as her middle name if my husband still loves her first name too. Suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you! ~Haley and Matt

I think Ashby Sterling would be perfect but I know you said you would prefer no A names; so how about these:
Hollyn Sterling
Jacey Sterling
Palin Sterling (another fav. of mine)
Lindy Sterling
Oaklyn Sterling

I for one do not like seeing boy names used for girls, but I understand that this is some people’s style.

Some suggestions:
Bellamy- fine friend
Cole- dark
Carter- one who uses a cart
Mason- stone worker
Noa- love
Harper- one who plays the harp
Piper- one who plays the pipes
Devon- Poet
Riley- rye clearing

Sterling is nice for a middle name. No one else can tell you what compromise might work for the two of you specifically. If he is okay with it being a middle name then I would try to find another name you both love for her first name. Good luck!

Thank you both. Monroe is nice. I actually really like Ashby. Maybe have to rethink the no S or A thing, because so many wonderful names begin with those letters. Hollyn is cute too, Oaklyn as well, but I think they may be a little bit too close to Arwen. ~Haley

Thank you! I love Darby! Kerrigan is cute as well. I too, do not like traditional boy names on girls, like Cole, Noah, etc... I’d prefer something actually unisex that works on both genders (like Arwen and Shiloh). I don’t want her name to seem like a boy’s, especially if we decide on Sterling as her middle name. Thanks! ~Haley

I too adore Ashby Sterling!

Maren/Marin is really adorable! My husband likes it too! I think it’s between Maren/Marin, Darby, Ashby, and Haven. I also found Tatum, which we both really like. The others just don’t seem like the one. Thank you for all your help! ~Haley
