Gemma Brielle vs. or similar style vs. names

We're expecting my first child in November and my husband and I began searching for the right name shortly after I found out we were expecting. We both agreed on Gemma Brielle. I have Hyperemesis Gravidarum which is SEVERE nausea during pregnancy. I just got it somewhat under control with nausea medication but the crazy thing is that whenever I think of anything related to when I was so severely sick those first months of my pregnancy I instantly feel the nausea all over again (even if it's psychological), including when I think of the name we chose for our daughter, because it was during that time that we chose it. I'm wondering if any of you mothers on here have had this experience (even if it was typical morning sickness), where you related the name to being sick? If so, what did you do? I'm seriously wanting to use another name at this point but my husband wants to keep it. I know this might sound crazy but I'm really conflicted right now! If you have any suggestions of names that fit the same style of Gemma Brielle, I'd love to hear them! Your feedback would be greatly appreciated too. FYI our surname starts with E and ends with N. Thanks!

I didn't have HG but I had morning sickness and even though I'm sure it wasn't any where near as terrible as yours I get where you're coming from. I couldn't eat certain foods for years and there are still some I can't bare to think of to this day without getting nauseated. I also picked out a list of names but had to go back to the drawing board when I got into my second trimester because I related the names to being nauseated. lol

I think you should give it some time and see if you feel better about it, which you likely will at some point, hopefully before she's born. I think Gemma Brielle is beautiful and since your DH loves it as well I wouldn't jump to another name too quickly. GL

Gemma Gabrielle nn Gigi is a nice idea, changing up the name a bit with a nickname is something I hadn't thought of. Thank you!

Sunni, thank you so much for your kind and helpful feedback! :)

You are most welcome. :0)

By the way, and check with your doctor first, but ginger root can help with a queasy stomache. I slice / chop it and add to boiling water for a "tea." I've never had anything close to HG so it may not make a dent. Just thought I'd throw it out for consideration. Best wishes for a safe and speedy delivery.
