Hi. I posted earlier today about Mara being near Tamara, Samara etc. I’m still considering it as a fn. My sister suggested it and I liked it though I’ve never heard it before. She pronounces it as Mar-uh. I like it as Mare-uh. Which pronun. do you like better? Do u know anyone called this. It’s not common on statistics, but I have seen it several times on these polls.

I think Mara is beautiful. I am like you-I like the Mare-uh pronunciation. Both ways are acceptable.

This is actually on my name list. I pronounce it Mar-uh. There is an actress with this name, she also pronounces it Mar-uh.

A friend just said this name to me the other day. Her husband is of Indian descent and they were going to use it for a girl- she pronounced it Mar-uh. Not sure how they were going to spell it but she said it was an Indian name or at least can be. I prefer Mar-uh

Maira would be better if you wanted Mare uh

When I see it, I would say Mar-ah, I agree that you could spell it Maira to get the correct pronunciation. It’s very cute though, and I love it pronounced either way.
