I recognize (and like) the name Sylvie. Jovie doesn’t look familiar but looks like someone joking around with the god Jove (Zeus, Jupiter). It also reminds me of the word "juvie," as in teenager-jail.

No this is a first name. I got Jovie from the movie "Elf"

I wonder what it would be like to be 45 and have to explain to people that you were named after a character in the movie "Elf." Imagine having to tell people, for example, that you were named after a character in the movie "The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh." Not exactly Shakespeare....

I voted for Sylvie bc I don’t know how you pronounce Jovie. Unless it’s jo-vee. Sylvie’s pretty anyway.

Even though Jovie’s different, I actually really like it. Its unique and Sylvie is cute but just sounds sort of old too me. Josie is also a very sweet name that is similar to Jovie, but like I said, Jovie is very sute and spunky.

I love the name Jovie from Elf but I also like the classic Sylvie :) I dont think that it really matters where you got the name. Its just the same to me telling someone I got a name from a funny little movie as it is telling someone that I got the name from a baby poll. Actually, its funny because we have the movie Elf and my husband mentioned he liked that name when she introduced herself on the movie so it doesn’t matter. Actually, I’ve been asked why I care what a bunch of strangers think on a baby poll.

I love the name Jovie. I remember it from "Elf" and thought it was a cute name and I liked Zoey Deschannel in that movie also. I say go for it. It’s a pretty name, it’s unusual and it’s got a little spunk.
