? vs. Decided

I think my dh and I decided on Mara. I created two polls, but only got about 3 votes responses, but I don’t want to post the same poll for a third time. So, we’re off to finding a mn which will most likely be a family name. Can you please comment on the name. Such as: Do you know anyone with this name? Any nicknames like Mare if pronounce Mare-uh or Mar if pronounced Mara? And most importantly, do they like having Mara as a name? Thank you. Hopefully I’ll get more results with this. I 90 % sure this is staying as a first name. Thanks again.

I know a Mara (MAR-uh) whose family always calls her Marvy. Which doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but I don’t think they planned it or anything - a lot of nicknames just happen.

I know of one MARE ah. She’s about 3 and precious! I have only heard her mother call her Mara. (She goes to my son’s daycare).

I think Mara is a super cute name... I would use the nick name "Ara" or "Ari"

I like Mara - said like MAR-uh. I don’t think there is a specific nickname for it, but nicknames just evolve sometime. I don’t think it needs a nickname.

I don’t think it needs a planned-out nickname. It’s a short name already. I have a longish name (Elizabeth) and I’ve never used a nickname based on Elizabeth even though there are dozens of obvious ones. My only nickname has been "C" (pronounced "See") because that’s what my little brother called me, trying to say sister.
