Johna vs. for a vs. girl
HI! I am expecting my 4th child. I have 3 boys named Matthew, Mark, and Luke. While we are excited to have a girl, we thought maybe it would be another boy so we could name him John--to complete the 4 Gospels! We are now considering Johna. What do you think? It will be pronounced like John-uh.
The Top Baby Name is...
Johna
for a
girl

Compared to your traditional boys names it sounds trashy to me. Also, dont you think she might feel like you really wanted a boy, and you couldnt even come up with a real girl name.
Jane is the most common variant of John and it flows better with the boys. I love the name Jane!

The idea is nice, but I’m not in love with the name. I would prefer Joanna. Maybe you could be a pick the name of strong female figure from The Bible. GL!
Whoops, that was supposed to be :
*Maybe you could pick the name of a strong female figure...

It reminds me of that Jondis disease. It’s an ok name, it’s original, and I understand why you like it.. BUT I think if you do that, she might feel like you wanted another boy instead. And you wouldn’t want that. So what about Joni or Jonell? I don’t like Joanne or Joanna. Plus, you never know.. you might end up with another boy, and then he won’t fit in! Good luck!
Johna is cute. It’s definitely unique. I don’t think she’ll feel ’left out’ or offended or anything because you’re not actually naming her John. If you did that, then for sure she’d feel like you wanted a boy. I think Johna is a creative feminine form of John. Go for it!!

I don’t really like the name Johna. If you want to keep along the Gospel lines, pick a nice Gospel name instead. Good luck.

Don’t give her a name that you would never have considered giving her if you didn’t have this motif going already. Think back -- if she had been your first baby, would you have given her the name Johna? She’s not just your fourth baby in a set. Most of her life is going to be lived out there in the world as an adult, not as the tail end of your cute baby-naming motif.
