I’m not a huge fan of it, but it will age well. You can use Doug or Dougie for his nn.

I like Douglas better as a middle name. Not fond of the nn Doug or Dougie. Something like Owen Douglas.

I think it is fine for a first name, will age well and it will get shortened to Doug. I say go for it.
