William nn Liam vs. Elizabeth nn Lissy

Do you like these names for twins? My mother-in-law insists that our children have ’proper British names’, but we’d like to have something a little more modern and cute. Do you like these two names as a compromise?

I think Lizzie is cuter than Lissy, but Liam is adorable! I like William and Elizabeth as full names and I like that they have different nickname options. Good choices!

They sound like a nice compromise to me. You could give them less "proper" middle names to spice things up too. I love the name William and nn Liam. Elizabeth isn’t a personal favorite, but it is a good name. I like the nns Eliza and Lizzy. Lissa would be cute too.

I think that they are both cute and formal. I also agree with the second post :)

I like them both. I like Lizzie/Lizzy better than Lissy though. Liam is adorable as is.

I really dislike both, sorry, they’re so plain, overused, boring, stuffy, old-sounding...I do like Liam a lot on its own though, and I love the name Eliza.
However, this is how I feel: You MIL already got to have and name her kids and she needs to be quiet. If you ask for he opinion, fine, but she shouldn’t be able to "insist" on anything! You two should find names you BOTH (not you three) truly love! GL!!
