When you think of Suri do you immediately think of Tom and Katie’s child? I love the name as it means ’Princess’ but I don’t want her to get associated just with Tom and Katie’s daughter.

Someone can associate any name with anyone. Like I can associate Ava with Nomar Garciapara’s daughter but I may still use it. It’s also like city names, Brooklyn, Georgia ext they always get associated with the city and state but their great names. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Suri is a cute name, and I love the meaning, but the only other Suri I know is Tom and Katie’s daughter. The pp said that she associates Ava with Garciapara’s daughter, but I know at least a dozen Avas. My point is that people with associate the name Suri with Tom and Katie because I doubt they know any others. It is a beautiful name and you should use it if you love it and if people ask if you named her after Suri Cruise, simply say something like "No, we named her that because we love it". End of story. Thankyou both! That has definately made me feel a lot better. I just don’t want people to think I named her after Suri Cruise. So, again, thankyou! I think I will be naming my daughter Suri! :)

I totally associate with Tom-Crazy-Cruise. Ugh. Sorry. Since he is the only one famous who has used the name I think people will definitely associate it with him. Ava is a totally different story since it is so popular. GL!!

What difference does it really make if people think you named her after Tom Cruise and Katie’s daughter, Suri? You like the name and the meaning. It is a pretty name. As the previous post, just say, "No, we named her that because we love it", if anyone asks. It doesn’t matter what anyone thinks, anyway.

It’s funny how nobody wanted to name their daughter Suri before Tom & Kate. Now people are but they don’t want the association of it to Tom & Kate. Sorry but they named their kid that first and since it was almost never used before that, most people will think of Tom & Kate first, and most likely think Tom & Kate are your fav celebs or something.
