8lbs 3oz born at 07:34 (GMT)

Alice is currently the bookie's favourite, with Charlotte, Elizabeth and Victoria following closely.

I hope they add some tribute to Diana in her name.

Excited for them. Can't wait to see what they choose! I'm hoping for Victoria because it's lovely and I don't want to see Charlotte and Elizabeth shoot up in popularity any more :P lol

I really would love to see Diana in there. Hoped they would use Spencer in George's name but figured it wasn't traditional enough.

Wish they would stray a little from the uber traditional ones and go for something closer in style to Vivienne or Matilda (still classy and not unusual, but IMO not boring/kind of plain), but guessing they'll stick to the more common ones like Alice and Charlotte.
Was discussing it earlier and thought Frances (or Francesca but that is a less likely) could also be a nice way to honour both Diana [Diana France] and her mother [Frances Shand Kydd] and I believe also Kate's father who's middle is Francis? Guess we'll soon see.

If Alice really ends up being her name, I think Alice Diana Carole [for both grandma's] sounds lovely. But, I have to say I'll be surprised if either name makes it in there. I'm expecting Elizabeth to be part of the name some way.

Alice Diana Carole was my thought for honouring/still using a name that's expected.

Or Charlotte Victoria Alice.

They could use Frances in there.  It was Diana's middle name and is Kate's father's middle name (Francis).  Yet, it is also old and classic.  Perhaps...

Alice Elizabeth Frances

Charlotte Elizabeth Frances

Victoria Elizabeth Frances

Yes, I think Elizabeth is going to be one of the names.  In addition to the queen, it is Kate's middle name, and I think her mom's as well.

Crossing my fingers that they'll release her name tomorrow! They left the hospital today and with George, they announced his name the day after they left the hospital.

Apparently, Olivia is just behind Alice and Charlotte among the bookmakers' favourites. How charming would George and Olivia be together!

There's been a fair bit of speculation that they are waiting to announce it to the Queen before the general public. So it should either be later today or tomorrow.

I love Olivia too. And Princess Olivia sounds precious.

I am so beyond happy that Diana has made the name. Also, that it is an incredibly beautiful name.

I like the name, but I hope the press don't start using 'Princess Charlie'. That sounds awful.

Truly lovely choice. Though I was hoping they'd stay away from the two names on my list, Charlotte and Elizabeth. lol :P

Oh gosh, Princess Charlie would be awful. Hopefully they would stick with the full royal decree of Princess Charlotte.

That's what I liked about George. Shortening worked well with Wills and Harry, instead of William and Henry, but some names just don't.. nickname very well, and still keep their level of gravitas.

Alice would have been much better in that regard, but oh well. At least Charlotte is only two syllables, even if it is more letters!

Alice has her fair share of nicknames.

Maybe if they decide to nickname her, they would go for Lottie? Far better than Charlie, though I'd prefer no nickname at all.

Very classy and royal!

I like Charlotte as a first name. Personally, I would've prefered to see Diana in the second name spot. Love that they used it though, great way to honor little Charlotte's grandma! And Elizabeth works but again in my personal opinion I would've liked to see something with a new twist, Elizabeth is sort of been-there-done-that. It would've been nice if she got a name "for herself", since Charlotte honors William's dad and Diana honors his mom.

That said, the name is definitely a good solid choice. Especially abiding by royal naming rules, they definitely didn't go wrong.

Charlotte is a beautiful name, as well as my niece's name, but I bet the popularity is about to boost up!
