When I name things, I always use really old fashioned names, such as Wallace for one of my turtles, Sam is the other. Melvin for my ipod... Next in line for me is Rupert I want to get a Sugar Bear eventually, which if I get a boy it'd be Rupert. But, I myself like the "grandpa" sort of names for items // animals.
Other names...
George
Levi
Marsh // Marshall
Edmund
Laurence
Warren
Nelson
Vincent
Quinn
Oliver
Mark
David

I tend to name my electronic equipment... -Major blush-
Our car's name is Lucy, my previous phone was Hyacinth..
I once had a TV called Flora. And all of my stuffed animals have names too.....-silent pause-Embarrassing much?
Here's some ideas: [I suggest NOT using a name you might use on your own child]
You could go for the silly names:-
Champagne
Phoney
Cherry
Wedgie
etc.
-----------
Or since it's an iPod, you could go for a musical name?:-
Aria
Melody
Harmony
etc.
I tend to just go with really old fashioned names, but ones I wouldn't end up using.
Rupert was actually after Rupert Grint I believe.. I was about 16 when I got my laptop and thought since it was pink, it was perfect.

I agree with Yas.
I think you should use a name you're not going to use on your son. (:
My car, which is a GMC Jimmy, is named...Jimmy. Well, the car pretty much named itself. Even though my mom thinks my car looks more like a girl...haha!
He looks like this (but a teeny bit more beat up):

My car that broke down last April had a full name I called her Sydney Marie Shaffer. I loved her. I miss that car.
The one we have now, the lady who previously owned it named it Dobie (like that thing off Harry Potter?) which was suppose to be a nickname for El Diablo IDK, I've been calling it Princess, since it needs a lot of money put into it
I also name every stuffed animal that comes into the house just about. When the kids get new plush toys, I *have* to name them I recently named Hayleigh's musical giraffe Gretchen

Omg, the stuffed animal thing is cute! I do the same thing with my stuffed animals! I also marry my stuffed animals...I have a little dog named Toto that's married to a cat named Midnight, and they have a puppy named Tuffy...
I've had a teddy bear since I was born, and when I was little I named him Teddy Blueberry Sisco. I still call him Teddy to this day. He's actually at Jon's house right now: I let Jon have him when Jon was pretty sick and needed something that smelled like me. He's still there, actually. Jon's the first person I let have Teddy, and we decided that we're giving Teddy to our firstborn. <3
Dobbie is a really cute name for a car, omg! (:

I still have her and I used to take her everywhere with me, now I still take her whenever I fly anywhere or if I go anywhere for longer than 2 days.
I'm planning on giving it to my first child [Good think about it, is it's white and small so it could still be great for a little baby boy].
It's name changed pretty much every week, but it's been Emily for a long time now. [After my love for Paget Brewster's character in Criminal Minds ]
Which reminds me, I think it needs a wash, it's so dirty! Poor thing was white before I got my hands on it.
I also have a build-a-bear named.. Rosie, I think it was.
Most of my things are in my mum's house in the garage now though.
Should have taken them when I moved out! But I only took a suitcase.
I've got a bunch of stuffed animals and they've all got pretty.. strange names.

Aww haha I can be the exact same way!! <3 I haven't actually named my laptop yet! But yeah, Mendel the ipod<3
And to be honest, I could name every one of my stuffed animals off the bat I still have them set up around my room, and I still sleep with some!!! Talk about embarrassing, hehe! <3
But I do the same, I name my animals/electronics with names I would never use in real life, but still like. I LOVE old fashioned names.. though I don't think I'd use them on my kidlets <3
Thats cute!! Rupert is just so cute... Ru! And haha nice association Thats an actor in the harry potter movies, if I'm not mistaken? I still haven't read or seen harry potter

The problem with having named my laptop Rupert, is that my laptop is seeming more and more feminine.
So Sylvie would have worked much better, but it's been Rupert for so long that it would be weird to suddenly change it!
Maybe for my next laptop, I'll consider it better.
