Natalie Reese Jenkins is a 23 year old college student who is studying to be a high school health teacher. Her best friend,Eva Caroline Owen, just asked her to go to a local bar to check out a new band. But Natalie just remembered that she has a big paper due in one of her classes early the next morning. She decides to go to the bar for a few hours and then get up early the next morning to finish the paper off. It is a rough effort, but she believes it will give her a pass.
Natalie gets her paper returned to her a few days later. The result is poor. She is given the opportunity to redo the paper to boost her mark. But, the mark is good enough for her to pass. So, she decides to keep the mark. Afterall, she had a fantastic time at the bar with Eva and they have plans to return.
The next evening Natalie and Eva return to the same bar. Natalie recognizes a classmate, Reid Matthew Jeffers, and catches his eye. She's had a small crush on Reid the whole term.
Natalie walks up to Reid, though when she trys to talk, she turns red and stumbes over her words. When she goes to sit back with Eva, she notices her younger sister, Natasha Lucielle Jenkins passionatly flirting with the boy who happens to have a new girlfriend almost every month,Foster Wesley Thomas, both 16 across the room.
She doesn't like the idea of Foster messing with her little sister, but doesn't want to embarrass her in front of her friends. So when she gets home, she talks to Natasha about Foster's reputation and says it's up to Natasha to make the right decision.
Natasha, thinking her sister is just bitter from her previous relationships, starts dating Foster. After one night together, she discovers she is pregnant.
Thinking that Foster is the love of her life, she tells him she is having his baby. He says he wants nothing to do with her or the child, that she was just a fling.
Natasha spends a lot of time thinking about what she's going to do about the situation her one night stand has caused. Looking to her own morals she knows she can't abort her babies because she wouldn't be able to live with herself. Natasha also knows that if she gave them up she could never stop wondering if her baby was okay, was he/she loved? So she chooses to keep the baby. On her first visit with her OBG-YN Natasha finds out she's pregnant with triplets.
Natasha finds out that she is having two girls and a boy. She's extremely overwhelmed, wondering how she would even be able to care for one baby at sixteen, let alone three. She begins to consider giving them up for adoption again, when she decides she could never and sticks to her decision to keep them. She decides that she'll just have to be mature about the situation and tell her parents about it. She spends days trying to work up the courage.
Natasha knows it would be better to tell her parents then to have them just find otu about it at random. So she calls her parents, Alexander Michael Jenkins and Corrine Elizabeth Jenkins, into the living room and told them both about her pregnancy and while they aren't happy they promise to support her in her choice to keep the babies and raise them. They both though, want to know who the father of the babies is.
Upon Natasha telling her parents about foster, Michael and Elizabeth are infuriated at Foster but decide to think it over calmly and see what they should do next. Their daughter is expecting triplets and can not do it alone and it will be hard even with their support and the children should at least have support from their father and his family. So the next day they must make a decision.
Hoping that by talking to Foster's parents, Natasha's parents go the them the next day. They explain the situation to them. However, unlike Natasha's parents, Foster's parents are about as interested in the situation as he was. They tell them it's not their problem, it was their son's fault and they can't force him to become involved.
Michael and Elizabeth are angry with what Foster's parents have said. They can't believe that they don't care about their unborn grandchildren, and they're shocked that they're unaware and uninterested in what their sixteen year old son is doing. They storm home and tell Natasha that she can't have anything to do with that boy, or his family again. Natasha is horrified. Her best friend (Angel Neveah Jones) is Foster's step-sister, and she lives with him. Her parents are currently unaware of this, because she has a different last name, and she hates associating with her step-family
Natasha is very upset about her best friend and tells her parent's the situation. They decide to think it over once again and try to decide what is best for their daughter and grandchildren. They hate having to make these decisions about their daughter but know that they must in order to help and protect her.
While they understand that Angel is Natasha's best friend they think it's better to cut off all ties with her right now and keep it that way. That family is bad news and they don't want Natasha involved. So instead they focus on the positive things as Natasha is three months along thy think it would be a good idea to take her out for some things.
After a lengthy day at Babies R' Us shopping for cribs, clothing, toys and other essential items, Natasha feels that she should begin thinking of names for the babies. She decided to focus just on the first names right now and has compiled a few lists with the help of her family that she definitely wants to use and is actually rather excited about naming her children.
Seeing as she's a young mother and well, had been a rather wild child, Natasha has decided to go with trendy names for the babies first names. She picks Rhys for the boy and for the girls she pickes Kylie and Grayson. Now that she has first names chosen. Natasha knows she needs middle names so she makes some lists to think on for middle names.
With her first names chosen Natasha decides on royal middle names and has decided on Rhys Jasper for her little man, Kylie Elizabethfor her girly girl and Grayson Amelia for her more uniquely named daughter. Deciding to finish up with her naming step, she decides to go ahead and think about nicknames for the triplets to go by. She has a few in mind that she likes.
Natasha decided that she prefered the shorter nicknames. R.J, Ky and Lia. While she figured this otu the doorbell rang and she went to go answer it. Finding Foster there, he was holding a dozen roses and a box of diapers. After ocerhearing his parents and beign given time to think, he knows he wants to be in his kids life.
After standing there stunned for a few minutes, Natasha decides to forgive him and but tells him that the first slip up and it's over for good. Natasha begins to talk with Foster about the children, revealing that they are triplets, the genders and the names. She decides to allow Foster a say in the names if he wants. Foster thinks it over since Natasha is allowing him to be involved.
Foster likes the names Rhys Jasper and Kylie Elizabeth, but wants to change Grayson Amelia. Natasha gives him free reign over the change since she picked the first two names herself. He asks if he can call their second daughter Fern Adelaide instead, with the nickname Addie. Natasha loves the name. Foster continues to buy baby supplies for Natasha and Natasha is stunned at his level of involvement. Foster asks if he can be there when the babies are born, and this gets Natasha thinking about how she wants to give birth.
After a bit of thinking and a discussion with her family and Foster, Natasha decides that since she is so young and having triplets, that it would be best for her to have an elective C-Section. Her family and Foster support her decision and continue to help her through her pregnancy and with preparing for the babies. Natasha decides to allow Foster to be present at the birth as well since he seems so sincere about wanting to be there. During all this thinking about the welfare of her children, Natasha begins thinking about getting tests done to make sure the triplets are ok.
After a lot of thinking and long talks with Foster and her parents, Natasha decides to go with the testing. After the hospital visit and numerous tests of all kinds, they had to wait 4 weeks for the results to come back. Eventually they get a call from the doctor and the news is both good and bad. Their son, Rhys Jasper, and their first daughter, Kylie Elizabeth, are fine, but their second daughter, Fern Adelaide, is not developing normally and has a condition that is causing her great stress while in the womb and that the longer she carries them, the greater the danger. The doctors tell Natasha and Foster that they must decide what to do about the situation as it will affect all three children dramatically. Being that Natasha is 28 weeks, they must must make the decision soon before the stress is to great and they are forced to do a C-Section while they are in the greatest danger. The doctors say that no matter the decision, the children will be in the NICU for a number of weeks and that they should be prepared for the worst, just in case.
