We've heard all these trendy or popular names over and over and it can get a bit annoying and redundant, but there are a few that are good names regardless! Which ones do you still love? I can't stop loving Lily however popular it gets, it's too beautiful. I don't like the names that can have a million different spellings with just as many rhyming names such as Haylee/Kaylie/Baileigh/Myley/Riley/Maycee/Lacy. But I still love the names and spellings Haylie and Lacey. Madeleine (not Madelyn or Madeline) is in my top three girl names. That's all I can think of now, but I'm sure I'll add as you guys do. So tell me what you love..despite the popularity!

  • Interests:I LOVE reading. I'm into almost every genre and generally read a book a week, if possible. I like Iris Johansen, Karen Marie Moning, Stephen King, James Patterson, Jane Austen, Charlotte Brontë, Diana Gabaldon, Kathy Reichs, and Robert Burns (every Scot's favorite author). I really love music and even got accepted to the Mason Gross School of Performing Arts at Rutgers University (my alma mater) for vocal performance. Unfortunately performance life was not for me, so I went into English Lit and French instead. Music is still a big part of my life, and I like a multitude of musical genres from Reggae to Rock to Opera. I've seen Carmen and La bohème each twice. (And I cry every time.) My husband and I also have a special place in our hearts for The Beatles.

I really like Alana. It's not too too popular like Lily, Emma, Sophia or Isabella, but it was ranked #100 on top 100 Girl Names in the USA in 2007. For boys, I do like Braden (pronounced BRAY den, but not spelled Brayden/Bradyn/Braeden/Braiden). If I can get Brian to agree, I'd really like to use Braden Alexander on a boy. And an added bonus, Brady is a cute nn when he's little.

Man. Emma and Sophia are both lovely names, too. Isabella, I like, but it's my young cousin's name and I don't think I'd ever like it enough to give that name to my daughter.

I'm also a huge Grey's Anatomy fan, so I like Addison & Meredith for girls and Derek for a boy. But they're all too popular for me to even consider. Addison was #6 on 2007's Top 100 Baby Names list. If it was like in the 80s, maybe even the 50s, then I'd consider it. I like the nn Addy, but I'd rather use Adeline or Adele since they're less popular.

I've never seen Grey's Anatomy, actually. Haha. But Derek and Meredith don't seem so popular to me.. Addison, definitely. I remember in elementary school, there was this boy a grade older than me and his name was Addison and I was just so intrigued by it because I had never heard it before and it was just like Madison without the M! Haha. I like Adelaide. At first when it started popping up I thought it was strange, but it's grown on me.

I think that Derek and Meredith are names on the rise. I've seen them on the Genie Polls a lot lately. Another Grey's name that's really popular is Preston, but I'm not too keen on it.
Adelaide is another great name to give the nn Addy/Addie/Addi.

IDK, if it's as popular as Preston but I certainly remember seeing it quite a few times in March.

Well..okay then. I would certainly just prefer the name Grey! No 'a' please! I personally don't like the spelling "gray" for anything, including a name. Even though I'm pretty sure it's the "proper" American English spelling.

Lily, Sophia, and Olivia are beautiful names that I shall always love, but are too popular for me to ever consider using!

Usually, if a name I love is too popular, to the point that it may become dated in the near future, I start to like it, but no longer love it. There's only one name that I will to love always, no matter it's popularity: Emma.

Names that I like but are too popular for me to love are: Isabella, Emily, Lily, Nathan, Benjamin, Logan.

I really love Ava despite it's popularity! I also love Lily, Emma, Madeline, and Grace.
Noah has always been one of my favorite boy names, and of course Austin (my fathers and grandfathers name).

Emily, Lily, Sophie and Ruby are beautiful but oh so popular... For boys I don't seem to have a problem with popularity, since I've already used Thomas (as a middle name though) and James, and would use Oliver in a heartbeat.

Ava is another one that is very pretty, but very popular.

I also love Lily, and will, no matter how popular it gets. I also like Rose and Elizabeth for middle names. I loooove the name Braden (spelled that way too). I first saw it on a show, Summerland. I don't care how popular they become, I also looove Aiden (for a boy) and Hayden (for a girl). Some names I don't like.... Olivia, Renee, Nicole. I like Addison, but it is sooo popular!

Hmmm....can't think of any others!

Emma
Abigail (we used it anyway; it means "her father's joy")
Olivia
Hannah
Elizabeth (most people think it's just a good middle name though, sniff)
Chloe
William
Ryan
Noah
James

What can I say? Lots of people have good taste! The fact that so many traditional names are popular right now, I think they'll continue to remain timeless. I'm afraid other popular names, like Madison, Addison, Ethan, Dylan and Aiden may be dated someday if they wear their welcome out.

I've always loved Elizabeth, although seeing as how it's been in the top ten for the past 200 years, I'd say that makes it far from trendy.

I guess my guilty pleasure trendy name is Hayden. I do like the sound of it, but it's sooo popular. Stop naming your kids after Hayden Christensen people!

Lauren - it was quite high on the charts in 2006 (no.24), but we used it for our daughter anyway.

Other names I like are Hannah (which I can't use since my oldest daughter's middle name is Ann)

Ava, Emma, Sophia, Abigail, Olivia and Ella - all of which are on my middle names list instead. I find that popular first names make for excellent middle names.
