Daughter due later this year and we are struggling to find a name. They keep being shot down and it's becoming stressful with only 3 months to go.

Lately, I've thought about the name Salem for a girl. Your thoughts?

Some combos we've come up with are:

Salem Olivia

Salem Elyse

Salem Rose

Salem Juliet

I'm also aware of negative connotations relating to the name, but they don't bother us. I love that it has a Hebrew meaning of "peace."

You know...I'm not normally a huge fan of rarer names, but Salem's cute! The only hesitation I have is the teasing because of the Salem Witch Trials. But if it really doesn't bother you, go for it!

Salem Olivia and Salem Rose were my favorites. I think I like Rose the best, I just am a little cautious recommending it because some people have called it a filler middle name.

Thank you! To me personally, I don't think little kids are worried about things like the Salem Witch Trials. I feel like there are so many other places called Salem, including one where I live. The "peace" meaning is what matters most to us.

My husband loves Salem Rose, because it's short enough that we could call her by her first and middle at times. I do agree about Rose becoming a filler mn. Sometimes it just works though?

I think Salem's a really pretty name, especially with the "peace" meaning. It would definitely work fairly well in today's name world without sticking out too much since place names are becoming increasingly more popular. I'm not sure if I associate Salem more with the Witch Trials or the capital of Oregon lol. My favorite of your combos are probably Salem Elyse and Salem Rose, and I also think Salem Dominique could be really pretty.

I love Salem for boys, but I think it can work for girls, too. I like that you've picked middles that are decidedly feminine and sweet; they help to balance out the first name.

In my opinion, the best combo of yours is Salem Juliet. I think a conventionally spelled, non-word name would be best to pair with Salem as Salem is an uncommon city name.

some other ideas:

Salem Ruth

Salem Amelia

Salem Eloise

Salem Vivienne

Salem Sophia

Salem Isabel

Salem Annabel

Salem Jacqueline

Salem Ava

Salem Audrey

Salem Gabriella
