Mary Anne Hayes/Queen Mira Anastasia Rellin of Esemara. (23) is Jeff's fiancee and high school sweetheart. Mira is a faerie, a secret only Jeff knows. She didn't know herself, until she was 18. Mira was the princess of the faerie kingdom of Esemara, but when she was five years old the royal advisor murdered her parents. Servants snuck her out of the kingdom, and put a spell on her so she would remember nothing of her former life, until she was 18 years old. The five-year old Mira was found wondering alone with no memories except what she thought to be her name Mary Anne. Mary was adopted by the Hayes family and grew up as a normal human child, meeting Jeffrey in high school. On her eighteenth birthday she was with Jeffrey, just talking and laughing, when suddenly she fell to her knees, frightening him badly. When she stood up again she remembered everything, and her looks had changed slightly. She looked mostly the same but somehow more beautiful and ethereal, and less human. She went back to the faerie kigdom and defeated the usurper. She is now the queen of Esemara but also has a life in the human world, where she attends college and is engaged to Jeff. though some of the faeries don't like the idea of their queen marrying a human.

Princess Lyra Angelique Rellin of Esemara [45] is Mary Anne/ Mira's aunt, her father's younger sister. Lyra's brother was king of the faeries, but he and his wife were killed by a usurper to the throne. Many members of the royal, including Lyra herself, were spared by the usurper if they agreed to call him the rightful king of Esemara. Lyra hated life under the man that killed her brother, and was overjoyed when her niece returned to retake her father's throne. However, Lyra disapproves of Mira having a separate life in the human world and loving a human man. Lyra believes no good can come of the queen's strong relationship outside of Esemara, and she thinks that Mira should devote her life fully to being queen. Because faeries do not age, Lyra appears the same at 45 as she did at 20, and is generally considered beautiful among the faeries, though her read hair is a very unusual trait among the people of Esemara.

Chiara Leanne Rellin (16) is Lyra's daughter. Chiara is the catch of the kingdom, but she is very shy and naïve. Chiara is getting rebellious, though. She had a brief stint in the human world when her mother wouldn't stop ranting about Mira's involvement in the human world. She met a guy in that world and had fun there, real fun, before her mother yanked her back to the kingdom. Chiara loves to sing. She sings all the time, in her room, to the birds. She'd only ever thought anything of it in the human world, when people said that she was talented. Chiara doesn't fit in among faeries. There are a lot of girls that make fun of her just because she is prettier than them.

Bianca Laila Rellin [19] is the older sister of Chiara and other daughter of Lyra. She is the oldest in the family and makes a good role model. she is also of Faerie blood and abides by all the rules. She also has the rare red hair of her mother which envied widely among the faeries, but her bangs are frowned upon. The council has asked why she has done such a thing as cut her hair in the front, and all she can do is suppress a smile because she hasn't always been a good girl. when she was about Chiara's age she too snuck out to the human world and she has been inspired by all the different fashion styles of their world. She does not wear faerie clothing and the council has started to get suspicious, but they have no proof. Bianca loves to draw and create her own clothes. she dreams of becoming a designer.

Azalea Lyric Rellin (5) is the youngest daughter of Lyra. She is a very playful child, and loves to dance, and play and get into mischief. She's never been outside Esemara, but she does have a human friend, a little girl who discovered the faerie world by accident and met Azalea and now comes there to visit her. They love to explore together. Though many faeries frown upon contact with the mundane, human world, children who find their world have always been welcome, especially children who believe in magic as deeply as Azalea's friend.

Laney Rebecca Halstrom (5) is Azalea's human friend. She never really had a family and is growing up in the foster system. When she met Azalea she felt like she finally had a true friend in the world. Before venturing into the faerie world, Laney made it her mission to plant things in every street median with dirt. She loves making little "fairy gardens." Laney loves the faerie world. Magic was the thing that kept her happy during the time she was alone in the world, without Azalea. Laney actually wandered into the kingdom because she was born a faerie, but she was the product of an affair between a commoner and a royal, so she was discarded into the human world.

Monique Skye Campbell [21] is the mother of Laney. She was only sixteen and she had met the love of her life but certain circumstances left her helpless. She gave up up Laney to adoption but left the note that the baby's last name should be of her father's, Halstrom. What Monique didn't know was that her beloved was a faerie prince, who was already married in his kingdom. Monique has been single ever since and a bit traumatized for being pregnant at such a young age. She now regrets giving up the baby and wants to take Laney back.

Simon Eldridge Rellin (22) is Laney's father and previous boyfriend of Monique. Simon is also the brother of Bianca, Chiara, and Azalea. Simon never liked faerie life and as soon as someone's back was turned, he snuck out of the kingdom and found himself in a regular neighborhood in New York City. He hung around for a while and met Monique. He fell hard--he loved Monique more than he loved anything ever before in his life. When she got pregnant, Simon ran. He regrets the decision every day of his life. When he saw Laney with Azalea, he recognized her instantly--she's the spitting image of her mother. He's considering telling Laney and tracking down Monique. What he doesn't know is that someone else has discovered his secret.

Bronwyn Janae (nee Sylphide) Rellin [20] is the wife of Simon. The marriage was arranged by their parents and she was only fifteen when she wed Simon. She never liked the idea of such young marriage but grew to accept it and she fell in love with Simon. She learned to cook and has a green thumb for the garden. She grows all types of flowers and fruit/vegetable bearing plants. She has a very pleasant and beautiful voice and she sings often. Recently she has noticed how unfocused Simon has become with the new little girl that has been frollicking around the kingdom. She then felt like she recognized the face. She accidentally saw Simon in the backyard hiding behind a bush holding hands with a girl, and she looked just like the child. Bronwyn has discovered Simon's secret and knows it is a violation but does not want to hurt the one she loves even though he has already hurt her by not loving her back.

Alona Rhiannon Sylphide (14) is Bronwyn's younger sister. She is set to wed a 17-year-old boy in a month's time. Alona and her sister are very close and have been talking about it. Bronwyn has been assuring her that everything will be fine, but lately, she's been distracted. Alona loves playing with Azalea and the new girl, whom Alona knows only as "Lala" due to Laney's shyness and Azalea's unenunciated, rushed speech. There aren't many kids her age that like her, and she loves entertaining the little ones and, in turn, seeing the world through their eyes. Alona dreads marriage as she is somewhat of a free spirit who does not wish to be tied down.

Riordan Cormac Hywel [17] is the boy that Alona Sylphide is betrothed to. He is a member of the nobility of Esemara, and has a strong sense of duty to his family and his kingdom. Because of this, he has agreed to marry Alona, though he personally feels that it is wrong to marry someone who is so young and who does not wish to marry. He plans to pretty much leave Alona alone after the wedding and allow her to live her own life. Like many faeries, Riordan loves music, and can play any instrument he picks up. Riordan has recently been drawn to a faery girl closer to his own age than his fiancee, who loves music as much as he does.

Emarintha Amalia [Poole] Cedar (17) is the girl Riordan is interested in, but she's already married and has a one-year-old daughter of her own. She loves music, especially singing and she loves to dance. She thinks Riordan is a great guy, and can see his interest in her.This worries her. If she had met him before she was married, she might have returned his feelings, but as it is, she only wishes to be his friend. Her marriage was an arranged marriage when she was 15 and her husband was 18. At first she was afraid, and had no feelings for her husband, but she has come to love him deeply and is deeply committed to him and to their daughter. She hopes she will be able to maintain her friendship with Riordan, and that he will understand that they can't be more than that. She also hopes that he and his wife-to-be will be happy together, because he deserves to be happy with someone.

Seren Tzipporah Poole (14) is Emarintha's sister. Seren is a mischievous girl who is always finding herself in some sort of trouble. Seren loves music as well and sings all the time. Seren also loves exploring the kingdom and places around it, including the human world. Seren is the child of a faerie and a Hunter, so she has violent instincts sometimes. She doesn't have the delicate patience that other faerie girls have and is developing much less dainty features than the others. She has lots of friends, though, and loves them all to death.

Carys Teagan Simon [16] is the cousin of Seren and Emarintha, via their father. Both her parents are hunters, but her grandmother was of faerie blood, so Carys has a bit of faerie life in her. Carys is reckless, full of joy, and loves life. She enjoys the adrenaline rush and is very spontaneous. Carys usually hangs out with her cousin Seren more than Emarintha, because they think so much alike. People even confuse them for sisters since they are always doing things together.

Aveline Grace Cedar (1) is the cousin of Carys, niece of Seren and daughter of Emarintha. She's a sweet baby. She doesn't cry much and spends a lot of time silently staring around at things. When she smiles, her smile is huge though. She loves her mommy and daddy and her aunt Seren, and Carys too.

Seeley Veronica Simon (15) is Carys's actual sister and the cousin of Seren and Emarinthia. Seeley is much more sweet and polite than her sister and wishes she had more faerie blood. Seeley is very smart and is a stickler for the rules, always the responsible one that keeps Carys and Seren from getting into too much trouble. Seeley isn't dating but just kissed her guy best friend recently. He's also a Hunter, much more enthusiastic about it than she is, though.

Malcolm "Mac" Reid Simon [13] is the younger brother os Seely and Carys, and cousin to Seren and Emarintha. Being the youngest, and only boy in the family has been tough for Mac, which only made his dad and him even more inseparable. Ever since he could walk he had gone out with his father to hunt. See;ey's best guy friend, and his brothers have also gone out together to hunt. Mac really likes hunting and is always excited for it. He just got a bow and some arrows for christmas.

Alaric Jameson Cedar (20) is the cousin by marriage of Seely, Carys, and Malcom, husband of Emarintha, father of Aveline, and brother-in-law of Seren. He loves his wife deeply, but doesn't really trust the Hunter side of her family, and is usually tense when around them. He is the son of a Faerie Lord and can come across as rather stuck-up and formal, especially when he is uncomfortable, so most of Seely's family think of him as extremely arrogant and stiff. He has a kind heart, though. He's also completely wrapped around Aveline's finger.

Angelica Hope Cedar {2} is the newly adopted daughter of Alaric and Emarintha, sister of Aveline. She is the cousin of Carys, Seeley, and Mac, niece of Seren. She's a daddy's girl, no doubt about it. He is the only one she'll come out of her bubble for. For the most part, Angelica is a pretty serious kid. She likes to be independent, though she loves being held by her dad. She'll grow up to be a strong leader someday, they can tell by the way she carries herself and communicates with others, even despite her young age. She has only one [adoptive] sibling, little Aveline, and their parents are thankful the girls have each other to grow up with.

Morning Guinevere Cassan (15) is a servant of the Cedar family, the nanny of Angelica and Aveline. She enjoys her job, since she loves children. She thinks both Aveline and Angelica are sweet little girls, and Emarintha and Alaric are kind to her.
