DH and I are expecting our second daughter in early October, and we still don't have a name !! My DH is tooootally stuck on naming her Chase. I'm still really unsure of that. I know it's mostly a boy name, but it COULD be a good girl name I guess. I just wonder what kind of "issues" our daughter would have with that name growing up ?? Our other daughter's name is Rylee Savannah. Our last name begins with an "R". ANY help would be appreciated. We want a name that is not in the top 10, a little different, but not wierd. Do you like Chase for a girl ? Have any other good names ?

Boy names on Girls is extremely trendy, we in this community see it everywhere. In twenty years, this will be so dated, like Gertrude, Agnes, and Myrtle. If your husband is still stuck on it use it as a middle name. Here are some names I would use.
Here are some unisex names leaning towards girls:
Ashley
Taylor
Erin
Sydney
Leslie
McKenzie
Reagan
Kendall
Ariel
Courtney
Aubrey
Meredith
Shannon
Harper
Ainsley
Sage
Kennedy
Whitney

Other Names
Madelyn
Sadie
Ruby
Angela
Lucy
Layla
Miranda
Summer
Bianca
Jada
Janelle
Natalie

Uncommon
Claudia
Dahlia
Lorelei
Kinley
Noelle/a
Alaina
Carly
Raina
Laurel
Hillary
Olive
Bree

AND, I of course love thinking of baby names even though that is a VERY far in the future thing for me because I'm still young!

I think, like Antelope, that if your husband is so stuck on it, to use it as a middle name. And since it is a very boy-ish name, I think she needs a more feminine sounding first name. I suggest these:

Amelia Chase R.
Daniella Chase R.
Lucy Chase R.
Molly Chase R.
Erin Chase R.
Madison Chase R. (pretty unisex name)
Bailey/Baylie Chase R. (Bailey & Rylee would be a cute sibset)
Leni Chase R.
Brianna Chase R.
Gabrielle Chase R.
Anna Chase R.
Annabelle Chase R.
Jenna Chase R.
Shelby Chase R.
Reagan Chase R. (Reagan and Rylee would also be cute)
Holly Chase R.
Keely Chase R.
Natalie Chase R.
Brenna Chase R.
Margaret Chase R. (nn Maggie)
Camryn Chase R. (i love this one)
Delilah Chase R. (another i really like)

I hope I helped even a little bit, good luck!
:)

i have also seen Chase spelled Chayse normally throwing a "y" in makes it more girly.. what about Shay instead just to throw in my opinion

I've personally never seen the appeal of Chase, especially as a first name (my husband wanted it for a while). It just seems like whenever you say the full name (first and middle or first and last name) it just seems like a statement, rather than a name. For example, Chase Alexis, it sounds like a sentence, and just does not appeal to me.

I would second the suggestion of using it as a middle name, but only if you like it too. If you don't like it at all, then go back to the list - one no outways the yes in my mind. Shae would make a good alternative. I know a couple of Shae-Lynn's which I've always thought was okay.

Otherwise, Shayla? Stacey? Maisie (may-zee),

Or you could use Chase as a nickname, maybe for Catherine, Cassandra, Charlotte or Casey. That would be cute, that way you could use the name, but still have the option to call her something else in the future.

I personally don't like chase for a girl, but that's probably because all the Chases I know are boys :)

I like unique names, too, and here are a few I like for girls:

Saffron
Keira
Amber
Skye
Siobhan (pronounced Shi-von)
Autumn
Jade
Athena

If you're looking for more common names, I like:
Rose
Stephanie
Claire
Maggie
Evelyn
Jacqueline
Julia
Sophie

Or here's some unisex names, too:
Jordan
Riley
Bailey
Alex
Blake
Logan
Cameron
Kiran

  • Interests:I LOVE reading. I'm into almost every genre and generally read a book a week, if possible. I like Iris Johansen, Karen Marie Moning, Stephen King, James Patterson, Jane Austen, Charlotte Brontë, Diana Gabaldon, Kathy Reichs, and Robert Burns (every Scot's favorite author). I really love music and even got accepted to the Mason Gross School of Performing Arts at Rutgers University (my alma mater) for vocal performance. Unfortunately performance life was not for me, so I went into English Lit and French instead. Music is still a big part of my life, and I like a multitude of musical genres from Reggae to Rock to Opera. I've seen Carmen and La bohème each twice. (And I cry every time.) My husband and I also have a special place in our hearts for The Beatles.

From our updated list I like Marin, Claire, & Ava (in this order as well).

Marin Cynthia
Marin Sonia
Marin Sophia

Claire Elizabeth (whenever I see this name, I think that Elizabeth is the only name that can possibly work well with it)

Ava Chayse (to make your DH happy)
Ava Camille
Ava Rowan
Ava Christine

I honestly don't see a problem with Chase as a girl name. I think its cute and would go well with your daughter's name....Rylee and Chase :) It is also cute as a mn.

Of your other names I like Ava but I wouldn't go with that if you want something thats not so common.
Claire is nice but I think Clara is better for a fn and Claire for a mn, I don't know why I just do.
Lane is cute.
Marin, I've never really heard of but I like it. I also like Marina.
Maya-not my fav.
Paige-good for a mn.
and Reese I'd prefer for a mn as well.

My suggestions are Marin(a) Chase, Ava Reese, Clara Lane, Clara Paige, and Ava Chase
