I was thinking about the name Michaela. We originally had that as a mn for Alyce. James' mn is Michael and that what he wanted to name Nathaniel. (Because of a big issue between a good friend of his named Michael and his ex, it was shot down.) Though I thought it would be popular, according to Baby Name Wizard, it's not. I know James likes the name Maci. That being said: Do you think Maci is a stretch as a nn for Michaela? I knew a girl named Larissa but everyone called her Lacey. So, it doesn't seem to bad and it's not a common nn. WDYT?

I think if Katie can be a nickname for Katherine...then Maci can be a nickname for Michaela.

A nickname can be what you want it to be! I don't think it is a stretch at all.

NN's don't always come from names and I have seen names stretched more than that. I also like Maci as a name on its own.

Not at all! My sisters nickname is nothing to do with her first name.
Its just another random name, rhymed with her first name that happened to stick.
I think its super cute.
