So...I love the name Francesca to honor my grandmother Frances--but I don't like the nickname Fran! (which is what she is called). Nor do I like Frannie or Fanny
I like Frankie but I kinda want to consider some more girly alternatives.
I thought of using the middle sound in which c-e-s sounds like "chess". I like this, and it sounds a little like Tess which is a mainstream name. The problem comes with spelling. Cess could confuse people into thinking "sess" or "kess" but Chess is a game. So I thought about using Ches, to clarify. What do you think?
My other idea is using Cess, and actually pronouncing it "kess". Thoughts?

What about Chessie? Kind of cute for a little girl and then I guess as she gets older, it's up to her.
Ches is also adorable <3 It has a nice flow to it and I can just imagine it as a nn for a little girl.
Not a big fan of Kess, or Cess. As you said, it will probably be mispronounced

Have you thought about Francie?
I think "Chess" Cess is a valid nn for Francesca....you could spell it Franchesca which is also a valid spelling and use nn Ches for easier pron.

I really like Chessy, like in The Parent Trap (1998 version). Frankie is cute too.
I'd pronounce 'Ches' 'Chezz' so I don't think that spelling is clear enough, but Chess is a bit too much like the game. There's a character in the 98 version of The Parent Trap named Chessy. I think that would be cute. Cess is sweet too. My favourite is Chessy. Another you could use is 'Chesca' - I've seen that used before.

I know someone called Francesca who goes but Chessie. I think it's really cute! Spelling it Franchesca could get around the problem.

My younger cousin's name is Francesca and we call her Franchy. I think it's pretty cute. She is 17 and still goes by that nickname.
