www.babynames.com is adding a new feature where you can add a face picture to a name. So you upload your picture and add your first name. Now when someone goes to the baby name...they'll see the faces that have been uploaded to that name. I think it's pretty neat.

Do you think sometimes that names sound better when you've known a person who is pretty or handsome with the name? Or seen someone (IE celebrity) who is pretty or handsome with the name?

To me a person's looks don't change my opinion on their name, but their personality probably will. I'd much rather associate a name with a kind but not as pretty person than with a nasty but good-looking one.

  • Interests:More than anything else in the world I love being with my family, which includes my amazing husband and our three gorgeous daughters. We are currently expecting number four, and are so excited! I am of course a mother first, but I am a writer second. I am a nut about names and etymology in general. I love reading; I’m a sucker for both the more modern fantasy books, like Harry Potter, and the also classics, like Shakespeare. Music is another thing that I could’ve live without, and I have to say my tastes definitely lean towards modern rock: Nickelback, Hinder, Papa Roach, and Theory of a Deadman are my very favorites. Not too big on television, but I couldn’t live without Lost. I also love cars (and driving them!), and I am the proud “mommy” of a Ford Mustang. I’m also pretty big on talking and I like to see myself as friendly, so I hope to see you around the boards!

I agree completely with Kate. I know it's just an old cliché, but it really is what's on the inside that matters the most. A nasty personality is what makes me associate names badly, not that person's appearance.

When people hear "Nicole" they expect to see a Nicole Kidman look-a-like. Then they see me and are sadly disappointed. :)

When I hear 'Nicole' I'm reminded of a very sweet Nicole I knew, who was dark-haired and a bit overweight and nothing like Nicole Kidman. It's her personality that springs to mind first, and only afterwards her looks.
