Name: Kelly
Location: Wisconsin
My husband and I are wanting to name our daughter Jael, but I'm concerned because our last name starts with the letter L. We both love the name, but would it be too much for her first name to be a pronunciation of her first and last initials? (We weren't trying to do that, we just love the first name.)
Initials = 1st name?

This is a matter of personal opinion. If you love the name Jael, I don't think you should let commonality with the spoken initials (which is rarely done) stop you.

I agree with bebeeg -- and I also think it's one of those things that are exciting as a kid, much like palindrome names.

Hi there
You'll be fine naming your daughter that, my only worry is when she says her name, will people think her name is "Jail"?
Try making it a double barrell name, or including a lovely middle name to add to it.
Jael Rose
Jael Ann
Jael Marie
Jael Emily
Jael Angela
Jael Olivia
Jael Maria
Jael Moira
Jael Talula
Jael Lilian
Jael Paisley
Good luck!

I agree that Jael may be "Jail" bait. Use a double-header first name Jael Marie or Jael Elizabeth. This also makes its less of a hassle for your concern with the initials- which, as far as I'm concerned should be no worry at all.

I grew up with a girl with the French name Dielle whose initials were D.L. As kids we thought it was the coolest thing. If you both love the name, go for it.

Sounds just fine, just break it up with a lovely middle name and you will be fine!
