John Stamos and wife Caitlin welcomed a baby boy named Billy, after John's late father.  Thoughts?

I'm usually not a fan of nicknames as given names (I'm not sure if little Billy's legal name is William like John's dad or just Billy.  I'm keeping my eyes open for it), but I love that they chose a name that honors a family member and isn't trendy or too out there.

I agree. I personally prefer that nicknamey-names not be used as given names, but I also understand the perspective of giving the name you actually plan to use! I know some adult men named Billy, and it fits them fine. I love when names are given with a purpose!

Just read the baby's full name is William Christopher Stamos, "Billy" for short. So nice to see a classic name come out of Hollywood.  :)

I'm glad to see celebrities use classic names too.  William Christopher "Billy" Stamos is handsome!  :)
