I personally love it, though it is a bit odd. If you're okay with that, then by all means use it--thought maybe as a middle name if your husband can't quite agree with it.

I think Lux sounds gorgeous, and I actually have seen it used as a name before. I agree with Danni, though -- if your husband can't completely come to terms with it that you should definitely use it as a middle name, at the very least. I absolutely love the sound of Lux Melody.

I agree. If your husband isn't completely liking the name, use it as a middle name, or even a nickname until you can convince him otherwise. I think it is very unique and I like it. Good luck.

Back in the 1940's, a famous radio show called The Lux Radio Theatre broadcast abridged dramatizations of current films, including "Meet Me in St. Louis" and "Our Town" with the all-star cast from the screen. The show was sponsored by Lux Soap. Not a current part of today's pop culture, but your daughter's grandparents might remember it. My philosophy on names is, go with your very favorite name, regardless of public opinion, so long as you and your husband are both happy with the choice. Each time, my husband and I both ended up crossing top names off our lists in order to come up with one we both loved. I gave up Leah (it means bitter), and he, thankfully, gave up Boaz (no offense; he's truly an honorable fella in the Bible). Maybe your husband will warm up to Lux, and maybe the two of you will run across another name you'll both be excited about. Good luck!

I think it's beautiful, and if you can't get him to agree on it as a first name, then have it as a middle.

Honestly, lux isn't my favorite. I have to agree with your husband that it doesn't sound like much of a name. It reminds me too much of Lux Bond & Green, a pricy jewelry store. I would definitely suggest using it as a middle name, and having a first name that your husband really likes and really wants to use. Lux is kind of simple, so it could flow with a lot. Other names that mean things similar to light woul dbe like Lucy, Lucille, things like that.

Maybe Alexus nn Lux? I don't think Lux is a full first name.

I love the name Lux! It's not something you always hear. You could always go with the "You let me name the girl and you can name the boy!" My husband and I went with that compromise, and so far it has worked out. I named our !st child (a girl), and now we are expecting our 2nd child and he is so happy to be choosing the boys name. Another note, once your baby is born no other name would have done, but the one you chose. Nobody liked my name, Amelia Grace, but the minute she came out she was none other than Amelia Grace.
Now I must warn you because you get to name your daughter Lux, if he wants to name your son Fried Chicken you have to keep your promise. haha!
Good Luck!

I must say it does remind me of Lux soap. You could use it as a mn or a nn for Alexis or even Lucy or another L name, it doesn't have to have Lux in it.

Wasn't there a Lux in that movie w/ Kirsten Dunst where all the daughters in the house commit suicide. I forget what it's called...but I think Kirsten Dunst's character was named Lux. The Virgin suicides I think was what it was called. I like it (the name) but perhaps a middle name or nn.
