I have a friend who loves the name, Nathan, after a close cousin that passed away. If the baby is a boy, the name will be Nathan Hunter. She is so in love with the name, that if the baby turns out to be a girl, she will call her Nathanna (pronounced Nath-anna). There is no talking her out of this one and I was wondering what were some of your opinions on this? Is it sensible? I've said it over and over again and it seems to sound a little more sensible to be honest.
So...opinions? Middle name suggestions?

Nathanna is a no for me....Natalie/Nathalia would be a much better way to honor a Nathan.

I feel like any guy out there would prefer a little man named after him than a girl... like I told my dad many years ago that I wanted a little girl and name it Lyric and I can call her Ricky after him (Richard) and he just gave me a look and told me he would rather me name a boy after him. Not a girl. But thats just personal experience here.
And especially in the case of Nathan (its my older brothers name, actually). It's just TOOO masculine to even work! I do know that there is a trend apparently going on with very masculine middle names, so if she wanted to name her kiddo Annabel Nathan [insert last name] it might work okay. Or Sophie Nathanna [insert last name]. Almost like when a woman gives her kiddo her maiden name as the kids middle name. Idk, that seems okay to me. Maybe tell her about that idea? Otherwise, I think Nathalie/Nathalia would be a much nicer way to honor him

I loove Nathan and its a great way to honor him. 
BUT, Nathanna just sounds made-up.
I would try to convince her to use this as a middle name ... and I HOPE she has a little boy.
Maybe even find a similar name, to 'Nathan' to honor him.

I prefer names where the gender is obvious. My own dd is Julieanne, which is the feminine of Julian, but it's an actual name - Nathanna does look made up, and is awkward to say. I would go with Natalia, Natalie, etc to honour him or find out his middle name and see if it feminizes better. if that's a word.
