It is really important to Ben that he name a daughter Leona in honor of his grandmother who died after a long battle with cancer about 3 years ago.

I like the name Leona but I find it a bit too long for every day use so I suggested we name a daughter Leona and call her Lennie (LYN ee). After a bit of discussion, Ben agreed :D.

Now I just need to find some middle names that I like with Leona nn Lennie and run them by him.

He has suggested a few and I have vetoed a few...

Leona Jade - I very much dislike the name Jade.
Leona Jezebel - I'm also not a fan of Jezebel or the association.
Leona Rae - Sounds nice and is similar to his grandmother's mn Mae, I just find it a tad too simple/filler.
Leona Lynn - I mentioned the nn Lennie could also honor my mom (mn Lynn) and he suggested Leona Lynn. <_< Leona Lynn nn "Lennie" is overkill to me.

Here are some names that I think sound nice with Leona but haven't run by Ben yet. You can vote on your favorite above. I'd also love to hear any suggestions you may have or your thoughts on the above. Thanks! (last name would be two syllables starting with C)

Leona Patience C____
Leona Phoebe C____ - Phoebe is also the name of a bird and bird names run in my family
Leona Prairie C____
Leona River C____
Leona Thessally C____ - I like the sound of this one and also that it has my sister's name Sally in it.
Leona Winifred C____ - The -fred ending honors several people (Alfred, Wilfred & Freddie)

Aw I really love like all the options!! I voted Leona Thessally because it has meaning, which is cute. Honors Sally, but also your fav name as a child was Tessa? Didnt you say at one point you wanted your name to be Tessa or something? :P so its cute that its included <3

Potentially helping rid of a combo, and much as i love Winifred, it makes the combo feel very long both three syllables and all. Just a thought though I still really like it <3

Thanks Remy! Yes I did have Tess(a) on my list when I was younger. I hadn't thought about it relating back to Thessally.

Surprisingly, I like Leona Prairie best of all. Though I did love Leona Phoebe, Leona Patience and Leona River.

Although I like the idea of "Thessally", it's not my favourite.

OM!!! Thank you so much for the list, Yasmine!

I like tons of them. :) I think I may just print this out and share with Ben. I'm really liking Leona Evermay and I think it may be modern enough sounding that Ben will like it too. Plus it has May in it which was his grandmother's middle name, although spelled Mae. Hm. Evermae -or- Evermay. I like the Evermay spelling better.

Glad you liked it. Your name style is hit and miss most times, so I never know if I'm on the right track!

I admit I prefer Evermay to Evermae. It looks cleaner with the former spelling.

And although Leona isn't my style, Leona "Lennie" Evermay has a lovely ring to it!

I hope he likes it... because I DIG it, Katie!
