Baby Dilly finally arrived at 11:49 Monday night! And thank goodness they can stop calling him Baby Dilly! His name is....

Israel David Dillard

What do you guys think of Jill and Derek's choice?

I think Israel David is such a fantastic choice. I adore David, and I love that Israel is different but not too different. :) I am interested to see what they will name Israel's future siblings! and I wonder if they'll ever call him Izzy. :)

I think it's handsome! I like how they went with a biblical theme too, and, like Addison, I am curious as to what his siblings will be named.

AND, I of course love thinking of baby names even though that is a VERY far in the future thing for me because I'm still young!

Hate the name, but he is such a cute baby! David is boring, imho, but is strong and masculine. Israel is just not my style and I think sounds pretty terrible with Dillard.

I agree the flow is pretty rough, but I think that's expected from a non-name nerd. :P lol

That's a very biblical name!

I'm from Israel, so it's always a little weird to me.. plus the only men I know with the name are over 50.

Not my style to be honest but the flow of Israel David is fine.

I agree with paper heart in that it is hard to see a baby named Israel. It is a nice flow, but not with the last name like you guys mentioned. David honors brother John David... overall not that excited. Hopefully they will give him a good nn. :)

My brother's new baby has the middle name Vinton. This is the town my parents grew up in. It represents the importance of that town and family to my brother. It is intended to honor. They have received so many compliments on the name; HOWEVER, my Grandparents think it is just weird! They aren't really rude about it, but they were very confused when they heard it. My dad explained to them that it is mostly strange because they are from that town, and it should be taken as a compliment.

All that to say ...

I can see how it is strange to some, but I like it. Biblically, Israel was the name of a man. His sons and their descendents became the country of Israel. It is an honoring name.

All that to say ...  I like it.

In the picture of them holding the baby, he has an IDF (Israeli Military) shirt. So I'm sure the name they picked has some honouring significance.

I agree, it definitely has honoring significance. I would not be brave enough to put in the fist name spot (would only consider it in the middle), but it is kind of growing on my for their baby. :)
