Muddy Meadows Ranch has continued to grow quite a bit over the past 5 years! Despite his age, Eli has continued to work as much as he can around the ranch, dreading the idea of retiring. He's been forced to cut back significantly as of lately due to his health, which prompted him to find ways to spend his time in a more accommodating way. Thankfully, Betsy has had no problems continuing to play the piano, even if she no longer teaches.
Charlie has mostly taken over the running of Muddy Meadows Ranch. He and Georgie are savoring the quads still being home, even if the teenage years can be challenging. Minnie is a very crafty person, loving to knit, crochet, weave, and all sorts of textile art. Sully has been really into the family business and enjoyed working with livestock. Tula has been passionately into activism, both for the planets health and social justice, and spends a lot of time with fellow activists learning about her interests. Hank really enjoys wood working and carving, which has lent to some beautiful works of art.
Vi and Sariq amicably divorced not long after Caroline's first birthday. While they were the best of friends, their lives were growing in different directions and the romantic aspect of their relationship wasn't there. Thankfully, they were able to work out a coparenting schedule that worked out smoothly for them and continued being close friends. Vi eventually met a guy, Kofi, who played percussion within the orchestra she played in. When things began to get more serious, she introduced him to Sariq and they got along well! Sariq even helped Kofi in setting up the perfect proposal when that time came, to which Vi said yes. Since then, they've welcomed a son, Aram Jayden, honoring Kofi's brother who passed away tragically as a child, and was his best friend.
Will met Claire in school as a child. While they knew each other generally over the years growing up, they didn't become particularly close until after high school. Claire's family owned a bookstore in town, which Claire has worked at all her life and continued to work at post graduation. Will attended a local university, which led him to require books and he preferred to purchase from a local business when available. He and Claire began chatting and had a lot in common. When Claire found herself pregnant, they decided they would do their best to be a family for their soon to be son. Thankfully, Claire's job being a family business lent her leeway to keep her son with her at work. Will and Claire's families both helped, enabling Will to continue his studies and devote time to his family.
Maddy and Caelan welcomed two more children to their family, much to the joy of Aiden and Reese! They loved their little siblings, Isla and Jack, very much.
Bennie's life has been a rollercoaster over the past five years. He met a woman he loved passionately, Margarita Josefina Salvatierra, whilst working in a nonprofit together. When they met, Bennie was still in university pursuing a social work degree and Mia was studying law with hopes of practicing in immigration and human rights. Mia's family all died tragically due to different injustices within the immigration process, which led Mia to a passionate desire to help fix the system. Bennie and Mia connected deeply with a shared desire to both help the system and immigrants locally, hence their shared career in the nonprofit they joined. Mia had been told by her doctors that they didn't think she'd ever conceive naturally due to her Type 1 diabetes. A combination of longer cycle lengths, very heavy cycles, hormone imbalances, and more made her chances of conception low, as well as made pregnancy more dangerous for her. When Bennie and Mia discovered they were expecting, they were over the moon! Teddy and Rosita loved Mia very much and had welcomed her in as family, which lead to the entire Colton and Morales families embracing her. The pregnancy was deemed high risk, including an endocrinologist in addition to her OB/GYN. Thankfully their careful monitoring and lifestyle changes helped them welcome a healthy baby girl! They decided to name her Paloma Cecilia, loving the meaning and symbolism dove's have, including hope, devotion, love, and devotion. They chose Cecilia as her middle name to honor Mia's mother. They considered Lola their little miracle baby and loved on her devotedly. They were even more shocked when Mia discovered she was expecting again. From accepting the likelihood that she'd never bare children, to embracing her miracle baby and assuming it'd be the only, to now so soon expecting a second, she felt like an emotional whirlwind. She'd already had a continuous glucose monitor anyway, but this pregnancy was showing itself to be more difficult than her first. Mia was able to cut back her university classes and significantly lowered her work in the nonprofit, as well as making the decision to move into Teddy and Rosita's to help with Lola. As much as Bennie and Mia had liked having their own place, it ended up being nice living back home again. Kahlo and Ari were happy to help care for their niece and see their brother and sister-in-law more. Mia ended up delivering a little early but thankfully didn't require a longer stay, as little Lili was healthy. At this point, Mia decided she wanted to use a nonhormonal IUD. Little did she know it would shift, resulting in a third pregnancy in three years! Mia and Bennie had some serious and heavy discussions on how to move forward, fearing for Mia and the babies well being and how to move forward. Ultimately, they decided they would welcome one last baby and have her tubes removed after the baby's birth. This third pregnancy proved even harder on Mia's body. Thankfully, Mia had graduated with her bachelors degree in Political Science, which prepared her to begin her law degree when ready. The family was happy to help Bennie and Mia through this and valued their time with little Lola and Lili. When Mia was around 33 weeks, she discovered she had pre eclampsia and would need to be induced immediately. Rosita watched Lola and Lili while Bennie and Mia rushed into the hospital, Mia suffering severe headaches, blurred vision, shortness of breath, abdominal pain, and nausea. Everything happened in a blur, the nurses and doctors hurrying to check her blood, urine, and rushing to bring her back for a C-Section, worrying about the safety of both mama and baby. They managed to safely get baby out while Mia's symptoms escalated terrifyingly. Bennie found himself sitting in the NICU next to his new daughter, alone, no idea how Mia was doing. His last sight of her was when she began having a seizure, and doctors rushed him out with his daughter. It was what felt like an eternity later, when the doctor approached Bennie in the NICU to inform him that Mia had passed away. Bennie decided to use the name Emilia Xiomara and call her Mila, which felt closely tied to her mothers name without being too close, as he knew Mia didn't want to pass on her name directly. Bennie's family heavily supported him through this tragedy, losing the women he loved so dearly and now having three kids under three, one of which being a premie in the NICU. Mila ended up staying in the hospital for a month before she could come home.
Judas met his wife, Gwen, at a rave one night and they really hit it off since then. Gwen was an oncologist who enjoyed letting loose in the evenings sometimes. Judas is a firefighter and loves a mix of calm, chill activities like playing the guitar and also loves to dance and loose himself in the music. Judas and Gwen got married on a rooftop restaurant/ bar and had so many friends and family surrounding them in an amazing time together. Six months after their wedding, they found out they were expecting! They were over the moon to welcome their son, Cyprian, who's name Gwen had loved since she was a child. A few couple years later when they decided to try for a second, they were surprised with twins! Meadow and Onyx felt like the perfect little additions to their family.
Dove met Gia through an internet community when they were teens. Initially, they were best friends. They felt inseparable, like they'd be best friends forever. It wasn't until they were a little older that they realized they were in love with one another and decided to define their relationship as such. Dove moved across the country to be with Gia and they married soon after! Gia was living at home still, with her medically fragile mother. She was an only child due to her mothers chronic health issues and her father had died not long ago, which made Gia feel strongly about living in the estate with her mother until her mothers inevitable passing. Dove and Gia were able to use IUI to conceive and were thrilled to welcome their two children! Gia felt immeasurable joy that her mother is able to meet her children.
