Hi Everyone!!

I am new to the forum but am looking forward to becoming an "active" member soon ;)

I was hoping my wife and I could get some advice and thoughts from the community on a name for our second child, another boy. We were really excited when we thought we had settled on "Rhys", but recently we've been doubting it as fewer and fewer people seem to like it or can pronounce it (we live in Southern California). We haven't given up on it but are still working on a middle name that goes with it or alternatively using it as a middle name. Can you please share your thoughts on the name, and/or any suggestions for a middle name or alternative first name?

We named our first son Austin Keats as Keats is my father's and my middle name and a long time family name.

Thanks Much,

Justin

I think Rhys is a brilliant name, but I can see what you mean with people being unable to pronounce it (I think some people say it like "rice"?)

How about using an alternative spelling like Reece or Reese? They aren't the original spelling, but the pronunciation is a lot more obvious than with Rhys.

Good luck

I love Rhys! I think it works better as a middle name, and atm I have Beckett Rhys on my list.

I think Austin Keats and Beckett Rhys go very well together.

Hope this helped

Hi Hannah!!

Thanks so much for the response. I whole-heartedly agree and my wife and I thought it would be a great middle name, but then after veto'ing each other's favorite boy first names we suddenly realized that the only name we both really liked was Rhys. Lol

I would love to hear some more suggestions for first names that go with it. Beckett is cool but it reminds me too much of the baseball card value guide called a "beckett" that i always had as a kid.

As a new member here I don't really know the rules or guidelines much but is it generally advised to not put your last name too on a forum like this? Just curious what people think since it probably would alter name suggestions right?

As for surnames: I had mine up here, and if it helps with getting a feel for how the name would sound then it's not a problem. I think a lot of people don't mind putting their surname up, or you putting yours up. We're just here to help you name your baby, and if it helps us to help you, then I can't see the problem (:

Hope this helped!

~Hannah~
