It reminds me of the the tv show Parenthood. The youngest brother is called Crosby.

I can't say I am a fan of the name (but again, all I can think about is that character and I don't like him). It's unusual but not unheard of, so if both of you like it, I say go for it.

I think certain surnames (like Crosby) that you don't hear as first names very often tend to still feel surname-y where others that have been used a lot (like Jackson, Harrison or Garrett) have lost the surnamey feel and are more recognizable as first names.

When I hear Crosby I think of Bing Crosby which isn't exactly a bad association.

Unless you have a strong connection to the name (i.e. family name or in your case a favorite celebrity) then there is a disconnect.

There isn't anything wrong with the name persay but most people wouldn't consider it a viable first name. But since it has meaning for you and your wife then I say go for it...those who don't associate with the name will be more apt to associate it soley with your child and will come to love it in time.

I think of the Crosby show, which my older brother used to watch re-runs of. And I have an Uncle Crosby...

But, there isn't anything wrong with the name at all. I can see a pretty cool and handsome young man named Crosby. It's just not my taste in names, I suppose. I don't care for how it sounds or looks, really. So I'd never use it myself. But, I don't see any problems with the name at all! And if you and your girlfriend love it-- use it! I'm sure it'll fit your handsome little prince perfectly <3 Though I still don't care for the name :)

Hope this helps!

I really like the name Crosby. It's different and he won't run into any other kids in his classes with that name. I think it's unique and unusual. If you and your girl love it then go for it. And just keep it to yourself until after your son is born. That's what we are doing! Were asking strangers for their opinions and keeping our names secret from our family and friends. It's a great name! Good luck!

in 2007 i named my only son Crosby (my maiden name) and just a few months ago a cousin named her 2nd son Crosby. then the only other real person i have heard of was Crosby Leveen from Deadliest Catch. i love it... but no, i wouldn't have named him Crosby if it hadn't been my maiden name.

Alright , Tomm is Inducing day... And we are down to Crosby Stephen vs. Declan Stephen... Please give as many opinions as possible...

So, what name did you go with?

I think Bing Crosby, too. I actually think it's a nice name. I'd prefer it as a middle, but if you like it as a first, go for it. Crosby Stephen is a nice combo.
