Help! One of my best friends is unexpectedly, expecting baby #5, her 4th son. They claim they have run out of ideas and are hosting a little contest to come up with the perfect name. (Winner, if any, gets $50). Here are their parameters: she - must be a normal name and not end with the "n" sound, he - must be related to sports somehow. The last name is Upton. The other kids are:

Trevor David

(initials "TD", like touchdown)

Brady Travis

(Tom Brady; initials BTU - a unit of heat, like a fastball - yes, he stretched this one)

Elizabeth Kate *Lizzie

(Mom won the right for a girl to be exempt from a sports name)

Cooper James

(Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, Basketball player LeBron James)

Some ideas I've had...

Westbrook

(for a middle name, Russell Westbrook)

Ty

(Ty Cobb)

Maddox

(Greg Maddux)

Manning

(for a middle name, Peyton Manning)

Sanders

(for a middle name, Barry Sanders)

Drew

(Drew Brees)

HR

(using the initials HR, which stands for Home Run)

Beckham

(for a middle name, David Beckham)

Blake

(Blake Griffin)

Rawlings

(for a middle name, sports equipment brand)

Ty Westbrook Upton

Ty Maddox Upton

Maddox Westbrook Upton

Maddox Ty Upton

Maddox Blake Upton

Drew Beckham Upton

Drew Maddox Upton

Drew Westbrook Upton

Blake Westbrook Upton

Blake Manning Upton

Blake Sanders Upton

Henry Robert Upton

Henry Reese Upton

Henry Reed Upton

Henry Rawlings Upton

Hunter Randall Upton

Hunter Reese Upton

Hunter Rawlings Upton

Hunter Reed Upton

What do you guys think? What other ideas do you have?

Of your list I like:
Ty Westbrook- even though I prefer Ty to be short something, this combo works
Maddox Blake- Maddox is not my style, but I like this combo the best
Drew Maddox- prefer Drew to be short for something, Maddox nms but this combo is good.
Blake Sanders- i like Blake and Sanders nms but it works here as a middle
Henry Robert- love Henry(it was my grandfathers name) and sounds handsome here with Robert
Hunter Reed- Hunter is nms, but i love Reed, Hunter Reed is a very nice combo.

Ill also add maybe
Alexander (Alexander Ovechkin- Hockey player-Stanley Cup champion) maybe Reed or Blake as a middle
Derek (Derek Jeter-baseball player) maybe Westbrook or Robert as a middle
Crosby (Sidney Crosby- hockey player) maybe Maddox or Blake as a middle
Im sure there are others I cant think of now but its a start, good luck with the contest.

They haven't repeated first initials yet and already have middle name Travis so I'd stay away from Ty. I'd stay away from Blake as a first too maybe.
I don't think Westbrook, Beckham, Manning, Sanders, Reed, or Rawlings really fit with the style of names they've used so far, so I'd nix those.
That leaves us with...

Maddox Blake Upton

Drew Maddox Upton

Henry Robert Upton

Henry Reese Upton

Hunter Randall Upton

Hunter Reese Upton

I think Drew would be a great fit! I'm not sure about it with Maddox though.
What about Drew Patrick?
If you look up Patrick apparently it's a sportswear company but there's a hockey player named Nolan Patrick and a QB named Patrick Mahomes. Double win, initials DP could also represent Draft Pick?

I like the HR names but not sure if they'd go for them.

My favorite is Blake Manning Upton.  The only potential issue I could see with this name is that his monogram (I don't know if that's something he would ever use) would be BUM, which is kind of unfortunate.  But I think Blake and Manning go together well, they both fit the sports theme, and Blake fits in nicely with Trevor, Brady, Lizzie, & Cooper.

I'm not crazy about Ty because it seems too short to be a full name.  You could suggest Tyler as a full name with Ty as a nickname!  I like Tyler Westbrook Upton especially.

I like Drew (it's common enough to work as a full name, IMO, and it fits in with the other kids'names). Drew Manning Upton would be my favorite flow-wise, but again, it poses a monogram issue (if that's a concern) - DUM.  Drew Beckham Upton is nice too!

I like the idea of using the initials HR (especially since they used TD), but since Henry and Hunter already have strong R sounds toward the end of the names, I think they clash a bit with middle names that start with R.  I would suggest Hugo (Hugo Rawlings, Hugo Reese, Hugo Robert, Hugo Reed), Harvey (the R is balanced out by the V so it's less noticeable; Harvey Robert, Harvey Reed, Harvey Reese, Harvey Rawlings); and Harris (Harris Rawlings, Harris Robert, Harris Reed).

Hope this helps!

Baby Boy Upton arrived 9.5.18

Maddox Ryan Upton

(baseball pitchers: Greg Maddux and Nolan Ryan)

Nope, I did not win. Yes, they broke their own rule using a name ending with "n".

Overall, a nice name
