Does anyone know the meaning of Slater?
My cousin's baby was born last week and was named Slater.
Everyone wants to know the meaning but we can't find the name's meaning on any babyname websites.
does anyone know the meaning?

Generally speaking, all "er" names are occupational names.
So Slater is a originally a surname, referring to the occupation of slating. Usually slaters, or slate masons, covered roofs and buildings in slate.
