My husband and i are trying to have a baby. We have a girl named picked out. And we even have the boy's first name down to three. The problem we are having is with the boy's middle name.
Ever since i was 15 years old and read the book "To Kill A Mockingbird" I have fell in love with the name ATTICUS. For those who haven't read the story, Atticus Finch is a man of nobal character. He raised his children himself, and took on a case where he defended an innocent man from a crime he didnt commit, but society wanted to convict him of just due to the color of his skin. And though the town tried to perscute and threaten Atticus, he stood up for what was right.
Now im a sensible person and wouldnt dare ask for my child's first name to be Atticus, but i've always wanted it as a middle name. My husband just looks at me as if im crazy, but i honestly don't want to let this name go. The name has been growing in popularity since 2004, though its rank is still 609 *sighs*
So....
I thought i would post here and see what OTHERS thought of the name.
To give you more info this is what the full name would look like if Atticus was used:
1. Gabriel Atticus Lovett
2. Dexter Atticus Lovett
3. Adam Atticus Lovett

I for one think Atticus is usable as a first name too. I've seen it brought up a number of times on Nameberry. Besides, Dexter is lower in popularity. I think Dexter Atticus is A-mazing. Love it. Then again, Dexter is my favorite boy name. Gabriel Atticus is wonderful too.

I love both Dexter and Gabriel.
But I think Gabriel Atticus has a slightly better flow.
They're both lovely though!
I adore Atticus. I don't think it's too out there, and it's very sweet!
I love that there's a story behind you wanting to use the name, rather than you simply thinking it's nice. ♥

I love Atticus. I also think it would be ok to use as a first name (but like you, I am not sure I personally would have the guts to use it).
Gabriel Atticus is adorable and so is Dexter Atticus. Actually I love all 3 names!

Well, you can always try with a compromise! I mean, if he likes Gabriel, that can be a part of it! Gabriel Atticus is super handsome!!!
And really, Atticus would make a really handsome first name as well My big sis likes the name Atticus herself, and might use it as a middle name... She likes Wiley Atticus at the moment
Adam Atticus would be okay also!
Though, I do like Gabriel Atticus a lot! Atticus Gabriel would even be really handsome!!!

One of my friends in high school had a younger brother named Aaron Atticus, so you know that people really do use it in the real world! Haha. He got a few snickers out of people when they found out his middle name, but nothing too bad. It's a handsome name, and certainly not any more "out there" than a lot of names being used on this generation. I think all three of your choices are incredibly handsome! My favorite, as far as flow goes, is Dexter Atticus. I lovelovelove Dexter, but it's also a bit of an "out there" name, so my second favorite would be Gabriel, if your husband wants to avoid him having an odd name.
