I would say (Cal-an) like Calvin without the V, but others might say (Cay-lan). I like it, but I'm a sucker for names like Caden, Calan, Braden, Bralan, etc...

thats what im worried about several ppl have said Calan (Cay-Lynn) and im thinking about using it for a boy pronouncing it like you said Calvin without the v...its a spin off my brothers name Christopher Alan..he passed away a few years ago and id like it to honor him

Go for it, I have spent my whole life pronouncing my last name for ppl.. re-HASTE, not re-haas-tee, lol, but it has never bothered me. I like Calan alot!!

I would have pronounced it rhyming with Alan. It's a great name! Just prepare yourself for possible pronunciation stumbles. We have that issue with two of my children's names so I've come up with short, easy ways to convey the correct pronunciation - e.g., Garen rhymes with Karen. You could just say Calan rhymes with Alan.
