Would it be weird or mean to use a short name like Lily & Amy or Leo & Max for a 3rd girl or boy if all our other names are long and elegant?
Our names are Anastasia, Gwendolyn, Kenneth, and Patrick.
Yes, this is for future children. Do you think they would think we didn’t spend time or care about their name as much?

No. Your children aren't going to put that much thought into it. I mean maybe down the line in the teenage years they'll bring it up "Why did you pick out such and such a name for me?" but every kid goes through the "i hate my name" stage.

It is a bit odd because there is a clear disconnect in style between Amy and Anastasia, so that is something to consider, but if you really love those names and have been set on them forever, then go for it.

Nope, you should use whichever names you LOVE!! :)
The short name actually helps to balance the flow of the longer names too.

I was just giving Amy as an example, I doubt I'd use that one. I think it'd be more of my boyfriend who wants a shorter first name for the 3rd but it makes me feel weird. I don't like short names with no nickname and then to not have the same style as the first two, it's just weird to me.

It might bother me on paper, cause I'm a tad OCD like that :/ I like a balance, and even names spelled a certain way disconnects the balance [ie Everlee . . . when I look at it it looks so unbalanced! Like the ending is just sticking out and ready to tip the name off the line of the page... idk. I'm a nut! :P ].

However, when said outloud it wouldn't be too big of a deal. And it'd probably blend is with the others, especially when a nick name is used! Anastasia I'm guessing might be called Annie? And Kenneth might be Kenny? So "Annie, Kenny, Lily! Time for dinner!!" Sounds perfectly fine.

Though Kenneth isn't a very long name, nor is Patrick! Both only two syllables, and the spelling isn't that long, really. Anastasia and Gwendolyn are pretty long, but yeah, the boys names aren't long at all. When you yell out to Kenneth and Lily, it will sound very even, and even when you look at them on paper it looks fine.

I don't know, to me what matters most of all is that you absolutely LOVE the name!! Even if the name doesn't "match" the other names <3 And really, as Elle said, the kids probably wont care or notice. And every kid goes through a stage of hating their names... but almost every one of them grows out of it :) I know me and my siblings laughed at a coincidence in our names for a while, when I was like, ten. Me and my little siblings had a commonality in our names but older brother didn't. I think the laughter lasted all of ten minutes then no one cared :')

So yeah, go with your heart when it comes to names, and use what you love! <3 Some short names can even go to nick names, Lily can be called Lils, Ella can be called Ellie, Kay could be called KayKay, etc. The nick name may be unnecessary, per say. But cutesy forms of someone's name are always fun especially to little kids!

Hope this helps!

I don't think I'd go with a single syllable or something, because throwing a Ann or Beth or Hank into the mix just wouldn't fit...but I don't think a short name letterwise but with two or three syllables is bad.
Really, if you love the nam,e use it regardless but if you're looking for matchiness, as long as it's two or more syllables, I wouldn't worry about length.
