My husband is playing God of War 3 and it makes me think about Greek mythology. One of the myths I've always loved is that of Hades and Persephone. And I believe the name Persephone is actually very pretty with a nickname of Seph. But, I always wondered if I could actually use it to name a child. It would be very unique. I don't know anyone named Persephone. But would it be subjected to ridicule? Does it age well? Will they not like their name? Opinions are appreciated.
I could see using Persephone (without the nickname Seph, but that's just personal taste).
Persephone subjected to ridicule, with Sparkle'Lynn, Princess, McKaylee, etc. floating about? Someone might comment about it, but there's way more ridiculous names to mock. As to aging well, I think it might be a big name on a child, but would work well as an adult. About like Penelope.

My favourite combo is Persephone Jane. I think the names compliment each other perfectly. Rose, Hope, Anne, Claire, or Emma would be very nice as well.

As for Persephone--I love it. But I'm not sure how it would work on a child. Its not terrible, but it is a little out there. Seph is cute, probably because I think the nn Steph for Stephanie is cute.
Why do you like Persephone? Because of the way it sounds or because you like the meaning behind it? Because if it the goddess/meaning behind it that you like, then maybe you could use Kore/Kora/Cora, another name that refers to Persephone. Kora/Cora Persephone makes a cute combo

I like Persephone because of how it sounds and the myth. I'm not a fan of Kore/Kora/Cora. I thought about it though. LOL
