Christopher: My brother's name but also I know a lot of Chris's in my life. Too me, Chris sounds to popular.
Michael: Family name. My middle name is Michaela (named after my dad) I have cousins, uncles, grandfathers, and even my brother with Michael
Jakob: Would often get misspelled, love this one better than Jacob
Alexander: Would use as a middle name but as a first name, Alex is too dated.
Jackson: Again, too popular and the last name of my best friend
Eleanor: Family name, middle names of my great-grandmother and great-aunt
Samantha: I know to many

What are some names you like/love, but can't use?Girls:Michaela - Too closely associated with my dad Michael, who I didn't have a good relationship with and there are too many different spellings of it.Olivia - Too popular and I have two cousins who have Olivia as their middle name.Anastasia - Getting common. It broke into the top 200. I'd use it in the middle though.Genevieve - Too common, but one of my top MN choicesAthena - It got too trendy.Caroline - Too popular.Audrey - Too popular and would probably be misheard as Aubrey (Aubrey is a boys' name to me).Mireille (meer-AY) - Will likely be mispronounced all the time, but I have no problem sticking it in the middle. Most people don't use their MN in their daily lives anyway and it's a nice alternative to the filler Marie.Carys - Too close to my cousin Kara's name.Vivian - I love it. It's a very classic name, but it's jumped up a lot in the last 10 years. It was unusual back in 2007, but in 2008, it was close to the top 200. Now it's in the top 100. I'm considering it as a MN.Alina - Have a 3rd cousin named Aleena.Elizabeth as a FNAmelia - One of my cousins is using it for her new daughter and it's gotten trendy.Caitriona/Catriona (pronounced like Katrina) - People will probably mispronounce it. Then there's the possible Hurricane Katrina association. Some places like New Orleans are still recovering from it, even 12 years later.IvyMadeleine/Madeline (I prefer Madeleine) - Pronunciation issues and people will misspell it. I like the Mad-ah-line pronunciation, not Mad-ah-lyn. I hate names with the -lyn sound 99.9% of the time. I don't care for the nickname Maddie either.LeilaniNina - Used to be one of my favorites, but my neighbor's daughter ruined it.Francesca - Have a 3rd cousin with this name.Valentina - Doesn't work with my last name.Seren - Hard to make combinations with.Ieva (Latvian form of Eva, pronounced Ee-va) - With the trendiness of Ava/Eva in the US, she'd probably be Ieva with an I or have to use her last initial. Not to mention potential pronunciation problems.Laurel - I have a cousin named Lauren. Too confusing. Daphne is a better idea. Same meaning without being matchy.Boys:William - So many people in my family have this name. I'd be more likely to use it as a MN.Henry - Too popular.DylanJesse - I'd happily use it as a MN, but as a FN, it's still a bit too common. I'll keep my eye on it a few more years.Wesley - Still a bit too common.Eamon - I'm on the fence about this one. Part of me wants to use it, but the other part won't let me. It is unranked, but sounds too similar to the ultra trendy -Aidan names.Leo - My dog's name and it's too trendy.Horatio - Maybe too old-fashioned? That and the CSI: Miami association, which I don't mind because I love the show, but I worry that my kid would be teased for having an "old man's name".JulianOscar/Oskar - Too associated with Sesame Street.Bradley - Trendy and then there's Brad Pitt.Sebastian - The crab from The Little Mermaid.HarrisonElliotJoseph - Way too many in my family!Damien - I went to school with a Damien who I had a bit of a crush on, but he kind of turned into a jerk.Luca/Luka
Edit: Francesca is actually my 5th cousin. I get relationships mixed up when it comes to extended family sometimes. lol I forgot that her grandmother is my paternal grandmother's 1st cousin.
