I've recently fallen in love with the name Jace after reading City of Bones by Cassandra Clare.
I'm not sure I like it as a standalone. In the book, Jace is a nickname derived from his initals--J.C., Jonathan Christopher. I've also heard Jace/Jase as a nickname for Jason, which I don't really like.
Rolling with the initals idea, I've come up with...
John Carter "Jace"
This combo is made better because, as a fan of honoring names, I use them as often as I can. John was the first name of my grandpa, who was called Jack, as well as the middle name of my brother and a few cousins. I love the idea of taking a new spin on family name.
Also, I've always loved Carter, though as it became popular I shied away from using it as a first. and I finally have an opportunity to use it. I'm not completely set on Carter, but I'm having trouble finding other C names I like. I was toying around with John Caspar also, but I don't like the sound quite as much as John Carter.
So, what do you think of Jace and this combo? Any alternate suggestions?
