I've been working many hours, but during the night there haven't been many costumers. So obviously that is some valuable naming time ;) I've actually been going through the SSA charts comparing the statistics between the USA and my home state! Its funny to see how popular a name actually is in your immediate area. Some names surprised me, others.. predictable. None the less, some names that don't look oh so popular are mad used around here. Thought I'd post my finds! I'm thinking about looking into another states statistics to compare as well, I'll post them if I ever get them done. If anyone else is interested and has a suggestion I'm opened lol <3 But here it is!

I'm going to put the number of where they fall in NH first, then the place in the US in parentheses next to it :)

108...................... Nora (137)
109...................... Rachel (117)
110...................... Reagan (122)
111...................... Rebecca (148)
112...................... Willow (202)

And then I also looked at which names have the biggest difference place-wise :) I only charted the ones here that have 90 places or over, but I have a paper in my room that charts everything from 10 spaces up (not quite bored enough to type that all ;) )
Colby - 215
Fiona - 191
Isla -- 174
Griffin - 161
Sierra - 146
Jameson - 138
Jillian - 126
Spencer - 125
Brynn - 119
Camden - 101
Alivia - 99
Quinn - 99
Julianna - 93
Declan - 90
Willow - 90

I thought these were all so interesting! :) Especially the big placement differences and all. In most area's of the united states, Isla or Colby wouldn't really be so popular. Really, you could use one of those names and not worry about having many classmates with the same name. But then just here in NH you'd probably have one or two in your class. Funny how it all works? I have to wonder if the USA's statistic having Colby at 314 is a big part of just NH's love for it, and if in many other area's Colby is in fact much less popular? Same with the others! So very interesting ^_^

Ah well. I hope this is a good read for you ladies!! And I so hope there isn't a spot on the SSA website that shows these statistics for you otherwise I might smack my head against the wall. It took me hours to do all of this :') Though if there is I'd love to take a good long look at it..

Sort of interesting that #8 nationally (Madison) isn't even on the NH list.

It is! Oh, I meant to go look for names that aren't on this list too.. opps haha. But yeah. Apparently Madison would be okay to use in NH without a million little Madison's as classmates :) Thanks for pointing that out! <3

Whoaa..that's cool. Now I wanna do that for TN. This was interesting. Sometimes, you start freaking that your favorite name is soo popular, but when you look at it this way, it can help calm you down, ha.(; Anywho. So great that you found the time to do this...like, I wanna work on my names, but every time I'm about to, I always think of something better to do. Obviously, I'm super motivated.

I trolled the web last night and found the birthd deaths and marriages web site for WA, NSW and the other capital cities but i couldn't for the life of me find an accurate one for Australia (but my googling skills are not the best :P) all i found seemed to be 'popular' names in australia.
I found this link for Western Australia http://www.bdm.dotag...baby_names.aspx
If you ever come across an Aus-wide version id be keen to see :)

Might be silly to comment almost 9 months later....but thank you so much for your research. Since I was given the same name as almost 50,000 little girls the year I was born, I didn't want my girls to turn every time they heard any rendition of the name Debra. I went so far, I didn't even want to know if they were male or female when they eventually sent a resume to a company. I named my first daughter Jordan, even without internet, I felt the name became popular a little too quick. I named my second daughter Colby and she is a one and only in so many ways. She never had another Colby in her class and to this day, when people ask me, "How's Colby", I can honestly answer...""She's Colby"
I'm sorry, I think I forgot to mention...she was born in Manchester, NH in 1991. We left NH when Colby was 18 months old, eventually landing in Texas when she was 4 years old.
Colby has never met another classmate with the same name. She's a one and only. My older daughter has sometimes questioned her name, as most of us do...but Colby, well...she is the name.

I am thankful for the research you have done....makes me wonder what might have happened if we stayed in NH, too. But for the parents that are doing the baby name gaming thing....my 2 are now in their early 20s and loving the fact, when they put in an application or send out a resume....no perspective employer knows if they are male or female.

I know this is a late post to your own - thankfully the web holds on to everything, so....Thanks Remy...awesome!
