I want to find a middle name for my daughter that means "joy" or something close to it. The first name will either be Claire or Kate, which don't sound great with Joy. Any tips for finding a pretty name or word that means "joy"?
Joy

The first thing that popped into my mind is Abigail, which means "joy of the father". Another one that came to mind is Beatrix, which is "bringer of joy". One of my all-time favorite names is Rowena, and I believe that it also means something along the lines of joy, but I can't remember exactly what. Good luck

I like Claire as the first name paired with the following:
Gioia (pr: "JOY ah", Italian: "joy; happiness")
Jocosa (pr: "jo KOH sah"; Latin: "Full of joy")
Laetitia (pr: "leh TISH ah"; Latin/French: "Joy")
Latisha (pr: "lah TEE sha" or "lah TISH ah"; Latin/French: "Joy")
Felicity/Félicité (pr: "feh LISS ih tee"; "FAY lee see TAY"; Latin/English/French: "happiness; joy")
Felicia (pr: "feh LEE sha" ; Latin: "happiness, joy")
Clara Bliss would also be cute.

You said the first name would either be Kate or Claire? Okay, here are some names that all sound great with Kate or Claire that mean "joy" or something close.
Abigail (my father joy)
Charmaine (Joy, delight)
Hannah (Grace, Joy)
Alaia (joyful)
Elsa (my god is a vow; joyful)
Good luck!

We used Abigail for our daughter, Chloe, because of its meaning. You've been given a lot of other great suggestions. I especially like Felicia, but you've got lots to work with!

I just thought of another suggestion: what about a variation of Joy, such as Joyce or Joylyn? I'm not sure if your Kate will have a "full" name such as Katherine or Caitlyn, but in either case I think Joyce fits them well. Claire Joylyn also sounds cute, but I think I like Claire Abigail the most

There's also Allegra, which means cheerful in Italian, and Gwyneth, which means happiness in Welsh.
Kate Allegra and Claire Gwyneth are lovely.
