I was watching a movie based on the book "The Borrowers" (which I've also read) and was reminded of the name I always thought was very pretty. The name was Arrietty (Air-ee-ett-ee) I'm not a huge fan of the look but I adore the sound of it!! Her mother's name was Homily and her father was Pod. I kind of like Homily but Pod is more of a word. What do you ladies think? Pretty, interesting or icky? :)

Arrietty is pretty : )
Homily makes me think of the word homey and the word homily lol XD no doubt the name was inspired by both!
Pod is definitely left as a word, I do like the name Todd however!

Being Catholic, Homily is too much of a word to me too, haha. I like the sound of Arrietty too, but the spelling turns me off. Perhaps just spelling it Arietty or Ariety would look cleaner, and still produce the same pronunciation

I like the sound of Arrietty, just too many double letters. I think Arietty or Ariety would look much neater :)

** Also, it makes me think of that "Secret World of Arrietty" movie, the cartoon :)

I agree with Remy. The sound is nice but Arietty looks nicer to me.

I also like Arietty better, the extra R- makes it a little clunky for me. That's the movie that reminded me! :P It was based off "The Borrowers"

In my personal opinion, I doesn't look like a real name to me. Sorry!

I think it's really pretty! I would never use it but it's definitely going in my name book! Arietty is very pretty though I kind of like Arrietty too, but Ariety looks like it's missing something to me.

I don't like it, sorry. It does appear to be a name, though, unlike Homily and Pod. Pod is definitely a WORD, and Homily reminds me of "homely". If you like it enough to use it, put this name in the middle place. Spell it ARIETTY. After all, the child you name will have to learn to spell it. You don't want her getting confused on this! :)

I like it, I think it is very pretty. Quoting from Nameberry "She’s a modern spin on Harriet, a cousin to Romilly, Bellamy, and other names that feel feminine and elaborate, but not quite frilly" http://nameberry.com...brandt-to-cadet
