Carl and Buford recieved a call from one of Carl's family members in Juneau, Alaska. Apparently Carl's great Aunt Keeta was gravely ill and was requesting to see him. Carl always wrote letters to her over the years keeping in touch.
Carl and Buford quickly got on an airplane and went for a visit. They spent a few weeks there, visiting with Keeta and taking in the sights of Alaska. After his Great Aunt passed, she left Carl a large amount of money. He hadn't known she had saved so much over the years. Carl put some of it away to retire and the rest he split up between his many children, most he kept in touch with.
They returned to work and finished his journey. This time he did not stop to see many sights. He was focused on finishing his journey so he would have time to visit his children and retire.

Every year he kept in touch with his children that wanted to stay in touch. Often he would use Aunt Keeta's money to send them tickets to visit. If they weren't able to fly to them he would visit them.
