I've tried writing a book in the past, but I'm in the process of editing and changing it. Stuck in "editor mode," I feel like I don't have a creative outlet.
I had an idea about a week ago to write a book about witches set in 17th century Salem, Massachusetts. I have a few ideas scribbled down, but I don't know where it's going yet...
Normally, my writing process goes like this:
- General prompt ideas and small plot details
- Figure out characters (names, appearances, personality, background, etc.)
- Research topic (if needed)
- Story beginning/background
- Write and see what happens
- Tweak and add to it
So far, I have some research and bare-bones details for a prologue:
A witch is being burned at the stake for her sins and treason against the Church. (According to my research, witches in Salem were hung, but as the craze made its way to Europe, the accused were burned at the stake as was a common practice in Medieval Europe. I may change my setting from Salem to Europe.) (Source) Nerd rant over...back to the details. In her rage, the pregnant witch claims that her heir will one day rise from her ashes and avenge her death as the most powerful witch ever seen.
Anyway...I'm trying to name the pregnant witch. I'm thinking... (firsts and middles)
