My husband is stuck on the name Rosalie. I hate it! it sounds old, too traditional for my taste and I also really hate the whole Rose obsession....I cant find any alternatives, I mean at least if it was a name like Ann, Annie, Anne, I could suggest using Anja, which I could deal with. He would let me use Rosalia instead of rosalie but I still cant I really just dont know but I need to know if there are any other names very similar or with the same meaning or any other variations, and also I dont even know which spelling I would use
Rosalia
Rosaliya
Rosaleigha
Rosalea
I swear it just looks like I"m trying to spell rosacea! I'm really trying to force myself to like it because I want to use a name he hates...so If I can bend I can get him to allow a name he doesnt like. please help!

Similar sound, maybe Roslyn/Roslin. It's a variant of Rosalind. I think it's close enough it might work as a compromise if you like it. And the always the nickname possibility of Rossie or Lynn.

I've seen Rosalia spelled Rozalia and Rozelia.
There's also:
Rosaria- Spanish, meaning Rosary or Rose Garden
Rosario- Spanish, meaning Rosary
Primrose- English, meaning First Rose
Rosalyn- Old German/Latin, meaning Beautiful Rose
Rosamund/Rosamond- German, meaning Pure Rose or Rose of the World
Rosamunde- Latin/Old German, meaning Wild Roses
Rosemary- Latin, meaning Dew of the Sea, also a fragrant herb.
Roseanne/Rosanna- Latin, meaning Gracious Rose
Roselaine- Latin, meaning Pretty Rose
Rosealba- Italian, meaning White Rose
Rosabell/Rosebella- Latin, meaning Beautiful Rose
Rosaleen- Irish, meaning Beautiful Rose
Rosalind- Latin/Old German, From Shakespearean works & means Beautiful Rose
Rosaline- Irish, Beautiful Rose
Roselle/Rosella- Combination of Rose and Elle
Roselani- Hawaiian, meaning Heavenly Rose
Rosen-Cornish, meaning A Rose
Rosewyn/Rosenwyn- Cornish, meaning A Fair Rose
Rosetta- Italian, meaning A Rose
Rosevear- Cornish, meaning Moorland
I picked anything I could find that was Rose related, to maybe give you an idea of some other Rose names that maybe both of you could like. I personally love Rosalie/Rosalia, and my daughters middle name is Rose. But if you hate his names and he hates your names, your going to have to find so common ground somewhere. You both may have to completely change your choice, use a variation or use a double name. Naming a baby is hard, I didn't actually decide my daughters until a few days before she was born and even then I wasn't completely sure until I saw her. You'll figure it out, but you've gotta work with each other.

Thank you all so much for your imput. I think I really like Rosaria, but kind of doubt he will like it, he's really stubborn and he says that he only likes a few names so he really doesnt want to comprimise because he 'always' does...anyway. Rosaria might really work, my daughters middle name is Mariah so I think if I can convince him to use Rosaria as a middle name for a girl it might work.
