Is Emelia a legit spelling or does it look like a made up spelling? If you saw the name Emelia would you think it was just spelt by parents who wanted their child to be unique or trendy? It seems to be a legit latin spelling, but I'm not sure.

Emelia is a legitimate spelling, and I'm quite a fan of it :)

Agreed that Emelia is totally a legitimate spelling which has been around for a long time! But even if it weren't, I would say that creative spellings which change only one letter and don't completely respell the name (think Emelia, Chelsey, and Jordyn vs. Emylea, Chelsye, and Jordynne) generally avoid looking made-up.
