I thought I'd revive Filly's Literary Crossover game with a small variation.

Have you ever thought "What if so-and-so from a certain book married what's his name from another book and had children?" or ever thought "Aren't Laura Ingles & Icabod Crane from LHOTP and Sleepy Hollow just PERFECT for each other?" :D

Well, Here is your chance to Name Their Children!

Like the Name the Children game, please bold your entry for each couple and I'll post the winners when I add a new round. (Names for children can relate to Character's time period, family/friends, have significant meaning or be an Ode to one of the parents i.e. Lancelot [Lance + Lot] has daughter Arromore [Arrow + more], explainations for names would be welcome.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our first mash up are...Sir Lancelot and Helen of Troy! The Greatest Knight of the Round Table and The Beauty Whose Face Launched a Thousand Ships! They married when Helen fled from Menelaus even after he won the ten year war for her, and Lancelot began to grow tired of Guinevere who would not produce any children for him. Helen had no problem at all producing children, and gave Lancelot twins on the first go!
DS/DD:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our second lucky couple is comprised of two of the most famous detectives of all times: Sherlock Holmes and Nancy Drew! The intellectual mastermind of 221B Baker Street and the wealthy, talented young heroine of River Heights! They married after Nancy got tired of the Hardy boys and Sherlock realized he would never be able to catch Irene Adler. Imagine how brilliant and observant the children of this pair would be!

DS:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our third couple is probably the most eccentric and never-move-on pair of literary history: Captain Ahab & Miss Havisham! If Captain Ahab ever gave up searching for Moby Dick and brought the Pequod into port, he would be perfect for Miss Havisham of Great Expectations. And she already has a dress! Their children would be the epitome of stubborn.
DD:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And the Cutest Couple of Literary History Award goes to: Neville Longbottom & Mary Bennett! The plant loving Hogwarts student and Elizabeth Bennett's quiet middle sister. Don't let first impressions fool you, these two shy and oftentimes overlooked characters have the makings of greatness!

DD:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last but certainly not least, our final couple is Alice Out-of-Wonderland & Lemuel Gulliver, home from his travels. These two characters know all about strange and unusual and have had enough adventures to fill a lifetime. Now, they are happy to settle down and start a family.
They married when Helen fled from Menelaus even after he won the ten year war for her, and Lancelot began to grow tired of Guinevere who would not produce any children for him. Helen had no problem at all producing children, and gave Lancelot twins on the first go!
DS: Hadrian Llewellyn
Lancelot wanted a strong name for their son. He chose Hadrian after the first defensive fortification in Great Britain, Hadrian's Wall. And Llewellyn which is of Welsh origin and means "like a lion".
DD: Leda Eleanor
Helen decided to name their daughter Leda (pronounced LEE-dah) after her mother. It is of Greek origin meaning "joy, happiness"; whereas, Eleanor is a variant of Helen and means "sun ray, shining light".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sherlock Holmes and Nancy Drew! The intellectual mastermind of 221B Baker Street and the wealthy, talented young heroine of River Heights! They married after Nancy got tired of the Hardy boys and Sherlock realized he would never be able to catch Irene Adler. Imagine how brilliant and observant the children of this pair would be!

DS: Augustus Mycroft
Augustus is of Latin origin and means "great, magnificient". The name Mycroft is in honor of Mycroft Holmes, the elder brother of Sherlock Holmes, whose deductive powers exceed even those of his younger brother.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Captain Ahab & Miss Havisham! If Captain Ahab ever gave up searching for Moby Dick and brought the Pequod into port, he would be perfect for Miss Havisham of Great Expectations. And she already has a dress! Their children would be the epitome of stubborn.
DD: Seraphina Maris
Seraphina (pronounced ser-ah-FEE-nah) means "burning ones", and Maris means "of the sea". This references the demise of both of her parents.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Neville Longbottom & Mary Bennett! The plant loving Hogwarts student and Elizabeth Bennett's quiet middle sister. Don't let first impressions fool you, these two shy and oftentimes overlooked characters have the makings of greatness!

DD: Amarantha Verity
Amarantha is of Greek origin and means "unfading". It is also the name of both a mythical and a real plant. Verity is of Latin origin and means "truth", which Mary seeks through all of her reading. I also like that the meaning of the whole name together is "unfading truth".

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alice Out-of-Wonderland & Lemuel Gulliver, home from his travels. These two characters know all about strange and unusual and have had enough adventures to fill a lifetime. Now, they are happy to settle down and start a family.
DS: Daedalus Rune
Daedalus means "craftsman". In Greek mythology, Daedalus was a the designer of King Minos' labyrinth. Rune is of Old Norse origin and means "secret". Runes were the alphabet used by ancient German peoples from the third to the 13th century, and they still have an aura of mystery as they were translated only recently.
