I think Tegan (Tay-gin) is more for a boy and Teagan (Tee-gin) is more for a girl. The G sound is a hard G.

I prefer Teagan for a boy compared to a girl. If you're nervous about using it or want to give him a more masculine-sounding nickname, you could call him Teague.

Tegan is Welsh, Teagan is Irish, both were male names that are used as unisex for girls more. I would probably use Tegan for a boy because of the saint, plus I personally like it better for boys. In American most Teagan's I've met are girls and Tegan is more rare, another reason I'd likely go with Tegan for a boy, and Teagan for a girl. Realistically it doesn't matter much, it's yet another boy name that has been usurped by girls in modern times. Since half the most masculine names out there are in the same situation, it's no biggie to use it as unisex any more than any other originally male name

Neither name was used for boys much right from 1900. Tegan was only in the top 1000 in the year of 2007 for boys, coming in at 975 once in the last 122 so on years. Wasn't super popular for girls either. It was in the top 1000 from 2010-2017 and its highest rated was in 2011 coming in at 788. As for Teagan for boys it was in top 1000 from 2004-2014 coming in at its highest in 2009 at # 651. Fell of the charts in 2014. For girls it has been in the top 1000 since 1999 and as of 2021 its in at #254.

If you love it use it. Unisex names are great. Personally I love Teagan for a boy.

American statistics don't really reflect the ethnic use of the names in their countries of origin, and Americans are notorious for doing the opposite with names in an attempt to be 'unique'

The fact is that Tegan is a Welsh girls name and Teagan is an Irish boys name. There really is no wiggle room according to origin and history.

Behindthename.com gives both Tegan and Teagan as feminine names. I wouldn't necessarily have known that myself though. I think it fits in fine with Keegan (boy name), well enough that you could use it if you want to.
