Lyn vs. Lin
Moving to the states. Thinking of using a part of my full name. Lin is the original spelling but I'm afraid it might be too uncommon and have too correct people. Should I go by Lyn instead?
The Top Baby Name is...

There are many variations of Lyn. I would personally spell it Lynn when asked. So I say go with Lin. People will catch on.

Lin gmv. Lovely.
I'm in the U.S. and Lin would be just as easy to use as Lyn. So you might as well keep it. Plus, you never know when keeping the original spelling will help with legal paperwork / immigration forms, etc. (I have no idea if that applies for you. Just throwing it out in case.) Good luck! :0)

Your name is your name. Why should you have to change it? You might have to spell it for people a bit, but I think it's a name with so many spelling variations that that might be true for any spelling.

Lin is easy enough. Lynn is more commonly used here in the states than Lyn, so I don't see that Lyn really has any advantage over Lin.

Lin - because you shouldn't have to change your name to accommodate other people. Also, if you are a man, people will probably assume it's spelled Lin/Len. If you are a woman, they will likely assume it's spelled Lynn. Easy enough to correct without taking too much time. And you could just say "Lin with an I" when introducing yourself. Good luck with your move and new endeavors!
