I prefer it for a boy, but yes, I have heard Finley used for both genders.

It can be, but a lot of people don't like gender neutral names so you will probably be told no.

The name means "white warrior", so no, I don't think it can ever truly be "neutral". Are girl moms trying to make it "neutral"? You bet. For reasons unknown.
^And females can't be warriors? The meaning makes it even more neutral imo.

^ I suppose anyone can engage in battle or warfare but it's typically the sort of "sport" left to the boys. I don't make the rules 🤷🏻♀️
Bellatrix, which means female warrior, could be an alternative if the meaning of the name is what appeals to you, OP.

Yes! I've never met a boy Finley, only a girl and she's a college student, so the name aged well.

Finley is now considered "gender neutral". It's not a trend I like but it seems it's here to stay.
A boys' name is of Gaelic origin, meaning "fair, white hero". Anglicized form of the Gaelic name Fionnlagh, derived from fionn meaning "white, fair" and laogh meaning "warrior, hero" but also "calf" btw.

While Finley (prefer Finlay for more Gaelic charm) is being used for girls, I prefer it to remain masculine. If names went in both directions I wouldn't mind so much. But I'm showing my age because I also prefer Lindsay for a boy. Good luck! :0)
Love the name Finley but prefer it for a boy. But yes it's gender neutral.

I've met one female Finley. I've known 4+ male Finn's but I don't know if any of them were actually Finley. One is just Finn, one's full name is Finnegan, and the others I don't know for sure. So in my mind, Finley seems like a girl name that could easily be gender neutral based on the number of boy Finn's I know.
