Nix is another way of saying no. Despite its meaning to you, that is probably the connotation it will always take to the rest of the world. Koi is better if you want an unusual name, but again that makes me think of the word coy meaning slyly hesitant or "showing reluctance when insincere."

Bradley Koi nn Brad would be much more sophisticated, but Koi isn’t bad and the meaning is nice.

When I read Koi I thought instantly of a Koi pond and fish, so therefore Nix is my choice.

I thought of Koi fish too. That’s why I picked Nix. But I also thought of Nix in the sense of "discard" so I’m not that found of it either. However, it’s definitely better than Koi.

If you want to use Nix I would use it as the nick name and name him Nick or Nicholas, much stronger name for a boy.

Nix is also a popular brand of Lice medication, FYI. Koi reminds me of a fish. Sorry.. I think you can do better than these.

My granddaughter’s first name is Nix. We call her Nixie and she also signs herself this way. We took the name from English translation of opera "Rusalka" by Antonin Dvorak. Rusalka means water-sprite or mermaid. This book is from the early 50’ and the word rusalka is translated water-nix. For my family, this name is part of our history.
